It is a magnificent Sunday market between tradition and authenticity. You can find local products to prepare the typical dishes of the region. To slip into the suitcase, know that local producers offer fresh vacuum-packed products, semi-preserved and canned. In the summer, in July and August, the farmers' marketsare always accompanied by tastings and sometimes even by a festive evening during which everyone composes their own meal with the producers. In Rouffignac, it is on Wednesday evening.

Make no mistake: "Ailleurs-la-gnac" is not a village in Périgord Noir, but an excellent beer brewed by a micro-brewery in Rouffignac. Sold at local markets as far afield as Périgueux, it's a great incentive to prepare locavore aperitifs (and bring back authentic sparkling souvenirs - there's something for everyone). Laurence and Jean-Claude have been making gourmet products at Ferme de l'Herm since 1978. Their daughter, Marie-Delphine, has taken up the torch under the watchful eye and experience of her ever-present parents. The local products on offer come exclusively from the farm's own ducks. Pâté, rillettes, foie, medallions, magret, confits and other specialties can be found at the farm itself, and on Périgord markets. Poultry and lamb complete the menu of a production on a human scale.

This is a store like no other. A patisserie, yes, but run from start to finish by a single enthusiast, who does it all herself. Julie excels in the art of creating superb cakes, individual or large-scale, cupcakes or pièces montées, for a sweet treat or a big event. As her small boutique begins to gain notoriety, be sure to anticipate your request in the event of a birthday, wedding or other celebration for which you'd like a beautiful piece, made largely with local ingredients.
