The Tour de Mataguerre, a vestige of the medieval ramparts of the Périgord town, is open to visitors by prior arrangement.
Dating back to the 13th century, the Mataguerre tower is a vestige of the medieval rampart that protected the "Puy Saint-Front", the original urban core of Périgueux. Completely rebuilt in the 15th century, it was later used as a gunpowder warehouse. Built into the rock, it is crowned with machicolations and archways. Its walls contain a variety of medieval weapons! From the covered walkway at the top, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the rooftops and the orientation table. Book a tour at the Tourist Office!

La tour mataguerre est située dans le coeur historique, pas très loin de la Cathédrale St Front. Elle se visite et offre une belle vue sur le centre ville de Périgueux.
