Passionate about history and passionate amateurs of archaeology will be filled here! A historic monument in 1967, the Butte d'Isle-Aumont and his church are a living testimony of ancient times. In the Celtic era, the butte is a place of worship and refuge, and then a sanctuary dedicated to the God Mercure succeeds the Roman worship during the Roman occupation. An abbey is founded under the Mérovingiens, accompanied by a vast necropolis of more than 600 sarcophagi before being successively occupied by the Carolingians, the Norman and Hungarian invaders. In the th century, Blanche of Navarre built a second castle and strengthened the fortifications while Isle became an important step on the road of the pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela. Only today remains the restructured church, enlarged in the th and th centuries, as well as some vestiges of the past.
