The village appears to have been dormant for centuries at the bottom of the valley, at the foot of a steep hillside called "La Crayère". However, his calm is matched only by his stamp. He was classified in 1980 and placed in the inventory of the picturesque sites of the department of Dawn. On the historical side, in 1562, the Duchess of Nevers sells the land from Senate to the Bérulle family, staying in Cerilly, a small village of the Yonne river, only a few kilometres away. The village then took the name of this illustrious family, which was set to give birth years later to Pierre de Bérulle, a French cardinal and one of the principal architects of the Catholic reform of the th century.
