A remarkable sculpture of a poor lace-maker trying to put her baby to sleep, to be discovered in Lille.
At the entrance to Square Foch, you can see a poor lace-maker trying to put her baby to sleep. A baby who is one of Lille's most illustrious characters, since this infant is none other than the song's famous P'tit Quinquin! Sculpted by Roubaix artist Eugène Déplechin (1852-1926), this statue is reminiscent of the Lille anthem L'Canchon Dormoire ("song to put to sleep", in Ch'ti), a lullaby written by Alexandre Desrousseaux (1820-1892), a native of Lille's Saint-Sauveur district, in 1853.

le Petit Quinquin
Comme dans la chanson éponyme écrite au milieu du XIXème siècle, la statue du petit Quinquin située à l'entrée du Square Foch représente une dentellière chantant une chanson pour endormir son enfant.
