COILLIOT'S HOUSE
This house is an exceptional example of Lille's architectural heritage.
It's hard to miss as you walk past: this house is unlike any other on the street. For the record, it was commissioned by Louis Coilliot, owner of a materials company, from the architect Hector Guimard, whose work includes the famous Paris metro stations. The result: an Art Nouveau masterpiece, with its surprising motifs and curves of wood and iron. The house has been listed as a Monument Historique since 1977. It's not open to the public, but there's nothing to stop you taking in the sights!
