ST. MAURICE CHURCH
Church located in the heart of the city, between Lille Flandres station and the Grand-Place.
In the heart of town, between Lille Flandres Station and the Grand Place, this church is one of Lille's jewels. Erigée between the xive and the late nineteenth century, in a Gothic, neo-Gothic style, it impresses with the size of its nef, its choir and its transepts, not forgetting its wide facade, with the bell to the endless arrow, planted in the middle. The church houses an exceptional collection of works from ancient convents in the city. Its majestic stained glass windows date from the end of the nineteenth century and are the work of the painter-verrier Charles Gaudelet (some glassware have been restored following their destruction during the bombing of the First and Second World Wars. Today, Saint-Maurice Church is one of the three parochial bell towers of Parish Saint-Eubert. It hosts exhibitions and cultural meetings. It is also a haven of peace in the city, where we stop to rest, pray, reconcile with God.
