A pedestrian path of ecological discovery makes it possible to discover (with or without a guide) a wetland, rich in a fauna and a flora specific to the banks of the Germaine, which abounds in the pond of Grolejac. This path is located in the regional nature reserve of the Marais de Groléjac, on a surface of 15 ha. Upstream of the pond, the Reserve presents a remarkable biological heritage, with plant and animal species. In any season, the ballet of the birds is fascinating. In summer, the lake is reserved for swimming but it is possible to rent a boat.

Certified by the French Surfing Federation, this school offers various training courses and lessons for all levels from 6 years old. From initiation to improvement, the school, with 25 years of teaching experience, offers 4 teaching formulas: technical (according to the level of each one), intensive (accessible, from 12 years old, to beginners as well as to confirmed surfers), the special kids 6-9 years old (group reduced to 4 children per coach) or private coaching. L'échiquier palois is a dynamic club that shows off its vitality. It is one of the biggest clubs in Aquitaine, with a fine record of tournament victories, a number of players qualified for the French Championships and even a young 2022 world champion in the under-8 age group! The club has over 200 members and is committed to a policy of training and initiation with the "classes en ligne" project, which enables all the pupils of the agglomeration community, i.e. over 1,500 youngsters, to be educated during school hours. The trail starts from the Sansanet picnic area, 2 km upstream from the forges d'Abel. The trail rises through pastures to the border, offering magnificent views of the Peyranère plateau and the Val d'Aspe massifs. Once at the border, the route follows the herd track to the 30-hectare Lac d'Estaens, with its legend of shepherds and a black ram haunting the area. Today, the lake supplies the Espélunguère hydroelectric power station.

The former domain is now public property, classified as a Sensitive Natural Area. It overlooks the city to the south. A path of 2.5 km length for 30 min to 1 hour of walking, marked out through wood leads the visitor to the top of the hill : view on Itxassou and the Basque Pyrenees. Picnic area. An easy and family outing which, despite its low altitude, allows you to enjoy a panoramic view. Stop at the educational building "Elondare".

Swimming is supervised on the Lac beach until September. There's a small and large pool, as well as a paddling pool. On site: lockers, toilets, cultural and sporting activities... You'll be happy to spend a whole day here, as the meadow bordering the lake is shaded and the pine forest is furnished with picnic tables. People with reduced mobility will appreciate the adapted pathway and the means to facilitate launching (tiralo, amphibious wheelchair) during surveillance hours. Pets, however, are not permitted.
