Getting around by train New Aquitaine

2h04 from Paris-Montparnasse, Saint-Jean station is served by TGV, TGV inOUI, Ouigo, Intercités and TER trains from many French cities, including Toulouse, Hendaye, Tarbes, Arcachon, Lille, Strasbourg, Marseille, Nîmes.... And don't forget the Thalys, which makes a direct return trip to Brussels-Midi station! Opened in 1856, it is the department's leading station in terms of passenger numbers. Its original metal hall was designed by Gustave Eiffel's design office. Seen from the outside, its wave-shaped roof makes it an elegant building. A stopover station for TGV trains between Bordeaux and Toulouse, it is served mainly by TER (Bordeaux-Agen line) and Intercités trains. Niort SNCF station is on the TGV line linking Paris-Montparnasse to La Rochelle, at least 2 hours 13 minutes from the capital and 45 minutes from the Charente-Maritime prefecture. From Paris, take the TGV from Gare Montparnasse, then count on a change at Libourne or Bordeaux to join the TER to Bergerac. If you're planning to travel in the Dordogne, Bergerac connects with Sarlat-la-Canéda in just over an hour, and there's a wide choice of timetables for both outward and return journeys.

Hendaye station is a railway station located in the commune of Hendaye, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It is part of the Bordeaux-Saint-Jean to Irun line and the Madrid to Hendaye line. The station has 6 tracks, as well as service tracks. In 2019, it welcomed 373,730 passengers. The station is located at Boulevard du Général de Gaulle in Hendaye. It is located close to the town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, near Ciboure.
