At the foot of the famous four open book towers, the BnF's reading rooms provide access to countless books. Just about everything that appears or has appeared in France can be found here. Impressive, isn't it? The rooms of the Library for the general public (Haut-de-jardin) are open to everyone, provided they are at least 16 years old. It is the place where you will find encyclopaedic collections with free access (books, periodicals, audiovisual). The rooms of the research library (Garden Floor) are open to academics and to anyone, professional or not, who explains why it is necessary for them to immerse themselves in the specific collections of the library. All year round, major exhibitions, meetings, screenings, concerts, guided tours and workshops are organized in this temple dedicated to books.

Built in the 17th century in the Louis XIII style, the Château de Chamarande has become an atypical heritage and cultural site with its different spaces: the Goose Game, the Orangery and the irregularly shaped "island"... Contemporary art exhibitions are held there all year round and, from May to October, events are held around the themes of gardens and heritage, as well as festivals of storytelling, music, dance, cinema... The works always represent a dialogue between current art, built and landscape heritage. It also houses the Departmental Archives.

If you want to rub yourself into an unknown discipline, the Maison de la culture Armenian. Jérôme Kadian teaches Systema, a Russian martial art that looks almost like Asian disciplines. In the form, no salvation, tactics or figures imposed. This form of battle, which is more than ten centuries old and developed under the Soviet regime, could be akin to self-defence. Each struggle is different, the aim is to react in the most effective way possible: attacks and parades must be adapted to the situation and to the opponent. In addition to relaxation and breathing exercises, which are the basis of physical and mental mastery, the courses of Systema consist of learning to respond to all kinds of aggression, in combination or in three. The first test course is 5 €. At the year prices vary depending on the number of courses. Example: € 590 for 5 courses per week, € 480 for 1 to 3 courses per week.

Opened in 2000, the Médiathèque library is a nearby cultural and social establishment accessible to all. It offers more than 130 000 documents (magazines, books, Cds, Dvds…) and offers animations for children around tales, movies and concerts, but also adults, with debates and exhibitions… It is a rich, pleasant and warm place where you can spend time.

The operation of the Bellefeuille Square is a house of cultural representations. Dances, songs, ballets, operas, music, humour and music-hall are available all year round. This venue has two rooms of 621 places (14 PMR) and 89 places (3 PMR). La Carré Bellefeuille also hosts festivals such as BBmix, which brings together rock, progressiste, and all modern music from all over the world. Resolutely modern but also classic for the most talented, space makes every effort to ensure that the show continues.

The combination of Berber culture (ACB) is an association open to all because of the activities that sets it up and a structure of offices where immigrant population (or original) and French of bouillon meet, mingle, learn to know.

Discover the Arab world and its cultural riches at the Institut du Monde Arabe, with exhibitions, films, concerts, meetings, debates and activities for children. The museum's collections are divided between Islamic art, ethnography, modern and contemporary art. The building itself (1987) is well worth a look, especially the 240 metal moucharabiehs. There's also a restaurant on the terrace, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Seine, Île Saint-Louis and Notre-Dame, whose reconstruction is nearing completion.

Les Amis du Vieux Château de Brie-Comte-Robert is an association under the French law of 1901, founded to promote cultural and educational action to safeguard, rehabilitate and enhance the heritage of Brie-Comte-Robert and the surrounding area. Through archaeological digs, archive research and restoration of the château, volunteers have been helping to enhance the monument since 1982. The association organizes workshops, tours and other events open to the public.

ARDHIS, a mixed-sex association, fights to defend the right to live in France of foreign homosexuals and trans people, whether they are living in a couple with a French national or a foreigner, or have fled a country where homosexuality is repressed. Many LGBT nationals come from countries where the simple fact of being gay jeopardizes their freedom or their lives. The association takes part in the fight against any discrimination linked to sexual, political, racial or religious orientation. Today, the association has over 300 members.

This archaeological association of the Rempart union organizes every year in July and August of the volunteer workshops. Educational activities for schools and leisure centres.

This media library specializes in the arts. In total, it contains over 73,000 documents: books, magazines, CDs, recorded texts and DVDs on dance, theater, film and the visual arts, as well as a local collection on Val Maubuée and Seine-et-Marne. By registering with the library, you will also be able to borrow documents free of charge from other libraries in Val Maubuée towns.

Rich in 16 000 documents, its thematic fund focuses on painting, from mural painting to contemporary painting through Impressionism.

With some 10 000 documents, this library has developed a musical thematic fund of 3 800 documents in which all genres are represented.

Inaugurated in 2006, this library is located in the Cultural Centre of Ferme Corsange. With some 12 000 documents - books, cds, cassettes, dvds and cd-books - it includes, in addition, 70 press titles, 3 multimedia posts, 2 access posts for the computer catalogue, 1 of which are accessible to the wrong and non-sighted, 1 DVD consultation post. It also has a thematic fund dedicated to the film adaptation of literary works.

Designed by the architects Paul Chemetov and Borja Huidobro, the library whose work began in April 2004 opened its doors at the 2007 Heritage Days in the heart of the urban centre, between the RER RER station and the university centre of the Val d'Europe. In addition to its very important fund, it is set up for the comfort of blind and visually impaired with access to the collections of the library library using specific software - speech synthesis, Braille printing. It is also the place of learning and languages with the tools necessary for initiation and upgrading in essential knowledge - French and foreign languages, mathematics… - using innovative software. A 120-seat auditorium and 12 multimedia consultation stations complete this equipment.

Located in the Priory's cultural centre, the Médiathèque library has a general fund of 16 000 documents: books, books-cassettes, cds… of 4 500 journals - 85 press titles - and 4 multimedia consultation posts, and above all an important thematic fund devoted to the youth image book. In the footsteps of Jean de Brunhoff and his Babar character born in Chessy, 2 300 image albums tell in colour the history of this particular narrative mode in youth literature.
