A delightful place to stop off at on your way to Girona. Located on the magnificent Pujada Sant Domènec, the small tables and chairs on the terrace give it a theatrical feel. Each table is set in a small square. The interior rooms, with their traditional decoration, are also very welcoming, with beautiful, wide-open windows. The cuisine is traditional, but inspired by Catalan, Spanish and French cuisine. On the menu, among other things, there are some 18 types of salad.

With its elegant, minimalist decor, this restaurant has been the ambassador of Valencian cuisine in Girona since 2007. It's the place to go to discover different paellas (nineteen in all), including Valencian paellas of course, but also mixed, seafood or vegetable paellas, as well as the many rice dishes on the menu: black rice, arròs a banda and more. All presented in the finest style. No paella in the evening, as tradition dictates lunchtime. For dessert, try the orange cream, just as Valencian.

This house, founded in 1893, has been held in a passionate hand by the same family for four generations. In the pretty service room with its rustic decoration, you can enjoy Catalan dishes from the region, with an emphasis on Pyrenean products, all for an edifying quality-price ratio. Adjacent to the restaurant is a small shop offering specialities to take home, including very good embotits, but also products such as cheeses, honey, jams and homemade beers from Catalonia.

Founded in 1969 by Joan Feliu and Guadalupe, this restaurant has become an institution with a loyal following. Enjoy local specialties such as delicious fideuà (paella with vermicelli), generous paellas, fish parilladas or sarssueles (seafood casserole). And don't forget grilled meats, as the restaurant was one of the pioneers of barbecues and takeaways. A large indoor dining room is available, but we recommend reserving the terrace.

Francesc Xambó and Josi Salguero opened this restaurant in 1990. Not without having restored the th century oil press that gives him his name. The wheel used to crush the olives is visible outside, but the 1870-throne press in the main dining room. The framework is also the'River, with its ducks and geese that give all its charm to this place since it can be seen through the large windows, open in summer. The products of the Empordà are to the credit in this restaurant, which is still being stormed. You will be enchanted by snails in Catalan in the three sauces, dressing, aioli and tomatoes, grilled sea wolffish or oven-roasted, cod with mushroom cream. This small, traditional Ripoll table has a rather impressive quantity-quality/price ratio, which has earned it a fairly regular clientele and a fairly frequent full house. You can eat typical dishes from the region, such as braised rabbit or pork cheek, excellently prepared, as well as desserts, in a very pleasant family atmosphere, with a rustic decor as a backdrop. You will appreciate the warm welcome of the owner, but given its success, you will have to either reserve or queue. A really good address.

Tap de Suro opened in Puigcerdà in 2003, before launching another restaurant in Barcelona in 2015. Here, in the heart of a superb wine cava, you can enjoy very regional specialties, skilfully presented and very tasty: Escalivada amb pernil ibèric, ous estrellats amb pernil or beautiful plates of tapas of Iberian cheeses and cold cuts, to be washed down with very good wine. There are also some vegetarian options. The atmosphere is elegant and the service pleasant and smiling. Don't forget to make a reservation.

This family restaurant, which opened in 2011, is an excellent restaurant featuring local products, prepared according to recipes handed down from mother to daughter. The result is truly superb, stimulating the taste buds as much as the imagination: for example, you can taste the Arròs del Delta de l'Ebre amb gambes i el seu "fumet" (Ebro Delta rice with shrimps and its "fumet") or the bistec de vedella amb salsa d'Oporto i fetge d'anec saltejat (sirloin steak with port sauce and sautéed duck liver). Service with small onions.

He showcases volcanic cuisine by working with the region's emblematic products, such as Olot potatoes, black mushrooms and Santa Pau beans. Try, for example, bread shells with ham and preserved onion jam, or veal escalope with ratafia sauce and mashed potatoes. For dessert, a small chocolate volcano with yoghurt ice cream and red fruits should punctuate the meal in a delicious way.

Located in the volcanic area, in the heart of the natural site of Font Moixina, which gave it its name, this restaurant, which is over a hundred years old since it was founded in 1890, offers traditional local cuisine. Co-founder of the Volcanic Cuisine Association, it offers, for example, turbot of the day with morel mushrooms, codfish with onion, honey and creamy sweet potatoes or apple fritters. All this can be enjoyed in this beautiful, spacious and bright place or on the terrace.

In one of the streets parallel to the sea paseo, this small family restaurant offers traditional Catalan cuisine according to the seasons, sometimes with themes that invite you to table such as fungi or urchins. In general there will be a lot of fish (wolf, turbo, Catalan cod, lotte to gambas…), seafood and even a guaranteed Valencian paella for amateurs. At the disposal to savor the whole, two small dining rooms with a slightly outdated but charming look with fishing nets on the wall and terrace on the street, from the beautiful days.

Typical cuisine of the region to be tasted on the terrace facing the Ebro or in the rustic wooded room of this restaurant, which is certainly touristy but in a rather pleasant location. In fact, the Casa Nuri is a gastronomic institution of the Delta opened since 1973! You can taste very good specialties based on eel - we recommend the smoked eel, very tasty -, copious paellas mariscada (i.e. with seafood) and delicious grilled fish, all at very reasonable prices. The desserts are defensible but are not the strong point of the casa.

Who said that a pizza couldn't stand alongside the preparations of the greatest chefs? Fabián, several times world champion pizza chef, demonstrates here that the transalpine patty can be elevated to the rank of a gastronomic speciality in its own right! In an elegant and unpretentious service room, you can be guided by the friendly pizza master, who also makes some very good pasta and salad dishes as well as famous tartars. His creations are called "pizza de fleurs", "pizza de foie" or "pizza d'or". We won't go into the desserts chapter here, leaving it to you. Buen appetito!

Opened since 1989, this pizzeria offers very good handcrafted versions of the Italian galette. Also on the menu some delicious pancakes. Possibility to ask gluten free.

In the heart of old Sitges, a stone's throw from San Sebastián beach, a popular bodega where you can share brave patatas, grilled sardines, cod fritters and squid in Andalusia at a modest price, in a rather local atmosphere. The service is very slow, but the servers are so friendly that you will still leave with a smile on your face. At the bottom of the bodega, a large and very pleasant patio for lunch in the open air, while your guests enjoy themselves in the adjoining park. A good address also for a simple aperitif with some tapas.

The best option if you want pizza or pasta without being disturbed by tourists.

Since 1974, the Suñe family has been at the helm, and now the third generation is working to maintain the restaurant's positioning: a family kitchen that relies on the quality of the products. Its specialties are paellas and black rice, served with prawns and mushrooms for example. The space is small and the house is sought after, so it is better to book in advance, especially if you want to come on the weekend. During the week, the menus make the place a little more accessible to small budgets. The wine list is very well stocked.

This is a delicious place to enjoy some of the specialties of the Empordà. Located in the historical center, near the old port, this restaurant was founded in 1966 and is now run by the grandchildren of the pioneers. On the menu of a future tasting, anchovies served with pà amb tomàquet, cheeks and pig's feet(galta i peu de porc). And for dessert, Catalan cream and, on weekends, recuit amb mel (fresh white cheese served with honey). And of course the assortment of tapas. It will be roborative.

A true institution of Catalan mountain cuisine. For more than 50 years, it has welcomed within its walls a whole generation of hikers, mountaineers, skiers and travellers who love the Camprodon Valley. Continuing the legacy of its founders, Sidro and Ventureta, the Vila-Badosa family offers excellent meats from the valley made a la brasa de carbó (charcoal brazier) and traditional recipes adapted to today's cuisine, using fresh seasonal produce (hunting, spring vegetables, autumn mushrooms). So don't be surprised if at lunch time you find only one dish on the menu, it's normal, because everything is home-made! The vegetables are particularly honored. Also some tapas to share, and very good desserts, very aesthetic moreover. The service is nice, we would stay there for many hours to taste all the cakes...
