LAMPAUL TOWN
Read moreLampaul is the village of the island, but also the rallying point after the landing, to discuss the modalities of discovering the island (cycling, hiking) and the place to meet for lunch or a drink before the boat leaves. Here, you can find almost everything: supermarket, bars, restaurants, bakery, pharmacy, school. You can also rent bicycles to go around the island, get information from the tourist office and, if your heart is in it, visit the church (remember that its bell tower was built thanks to donations from the British crown after the sinking of Drummond Castle). Going down, you can access the port of Lampaul, where the sailing school, the diving club and the lifeboat are located. At the southwestern end, the view of Lampaul Bay is magnificent. Note: it is in Lampaul that most of the festivities of the International Island Book Fair take place at the end of August.

THE TWO CHURCHES: ST. THURTON AND ST. THOMAS
Read moreOn each side of the Elorn, a church was built. This river was the natural boundary between the two former counties, Léon and Cornwall, who had their own diocese. The right bank of Leo, the church of Saint-Houardon, was completely moved to the th century. Closer to the river initially, she could no longer welcome all parishioners. Reconstruction and expansion work lasted 3 years, from 1848 to 1861. The porch has a finely worked porch and a walk with a turret with stairs. On the left Bank of Cornwall, St. Thomas Church was also rebuilt in the th century under the direction of architect Bigot. Inside, the sand are beautiful invoices and a variety of reasons are distinguished. Closer to the altar, an old wooden statue of the Virgin in an extended position is interesting because of its original representation.
THE CALVARY
Read moreThis monument is one of the most beautiful samples of cross-panels, calvaries carved on its four sides, typical of this part of Brittany. It has three floors of sculptures. On the north-south base, six scenes from Christ's life are displayed (the arrest of Christ or the kiss of Judas, flogging, cross-bearing, crucifixion, descent to Hell and Ascension) and on the barrel you will discover four motifs representing Saint Peter, Saint Paul, Saint John the Baptist and Saint James. This calvary would be the only one in Brittany to symbolize the passion and Ascension of Christ. The nearby church is open during the day.
SAINT MICHAEL'S CHAPEL
Read moreLocated on the former fairground and the current Place Saint-Michel, this chapel is a 17th century work renovated at the beginning of the 20th century. Its location, under the foliage of trees, contributes greatly to its charm. Among the curiosities is a bell dated 1670, where an annual pardon is celebrated every August 15. It can no longer be visited today, but its surroundings are very pleasant.

THE HOUSES OF THE 17TH CENTURY
Read moreLanderneau has several beautiful houses, symbols of its rich past:
The Maison de la Duchesse Anne, place du Marché, is easy to find. After hosting the offices of the Tourist Office, she received a full renovation. It will offer a tea room on the ground floor, as well as a museum on the first floor (remaining floors remaining private). Dated in 1664, this beautiful residence has a series of glass windows that occupy a large part of the northern pignon. On the façade, a statue of the Risen Christ is inserted into a niche.
La Maison de Notre-Dame-de-Rumengol, at 3 St-Thomas Street, attracts a look. His name recalls the passage of pilgrims who went to Rumengol, a few kilometers away, and gathered in front of the statue of Notre Dame. This house has undergone few changes since its construction. The wedding of the pink stones of the Aber Ildut and the yellow stones of Logonna give it a unique aspect.

ABBEY'S CHURCH
Read moreThis Romanesque church built with Logonna stones between 1167 and 1173 kept traces of the original construction of the 8th century. The magnificent Gothic porch built in 1560 was dismantled and transplanted in the late 19th century to the cemetery's entrance adjacent to the abbey. The interior of the church is reputed for its first-class acoustics allowed by the harmony of the vaults. This is the way that concerts regularly took place there, although the organ has disappeared after the church was abandonned to the Jesuites in 1692. In case of questions, you will need to speak to the presbytery, opposite the church.

BRIDGE SUSPENDED
Read moreThis cable-stayed bridge is remarkable for its architectural quality. Built between 1833 and 1840, its original purpose was to replace the ferries linking the two banks of the Trieux. This first wooden deck was replaced in 1925 by a more modern and safer metal suspension bridge, according to the plans of the French engineer Gaston Leinekugel Le Cocq. Traffic was not even interrupted: the new deck was built under the old one, which was dismantled once the work was completed. The current structure is 154 metres long.
