Sweden's largest botanical garden. Here, in a magnificent setting, almost 12,000 species of plants grow. The Japanese valley, the arboretum with trees from all over the world, the tropical greenhouses, rare orchids or bamboo forests... This amusement park is 200 m long and 500 m long, and is located 10 minutes east of Göta Platsen and has been in existence since 1923. There are traditional large wheels, rides and raffles, but also a house built on the opposite and a "crazy house"! Flume Ride is a circuit on rapids that you perform sculpture in a large log excavated in a canoe. The park recently filled new Russian mountains with cliffs wood… for 100 million crowns! In winter, from early November to 23 December, the park transforms into a huge Christmas market, where every inhabitant of Gothenburg has to go and drink a glögg.

This ^19th century park is one of the best preserved in Europe. Its rose garden is the largest in Scandinavia, and its English style, with its winding paths and period gardens, makes it a truly romantic place where many weddings are celebrated. During the summer, the rose garden is filled with thousands of colorful and fragrant roses. In the elegant 1878 greenhouse, you will find palm trees and other types of tropical plants.

Famous for its magnificent park and rhododendron grove, which, with 10,000 plants, is the most extensive in Scandinavia. This ^19th century castle was given as a wedding present by King Oscar II to his grandson Gustav Adolf and his wife Margareta in 1905, and the royal furnishings have not changed a bit! Lunch in the castle restaurant, a walk along the ponds... A delight. In summer, exhibitions and concerts on the beautiful and spacious lawns surrounding the castle.

Millesgården houses the major works of the renowned Swedish sculptor Carl Milles, who was also a discerning art connoisseur. His personal collections of Greek and Roman antiquities, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance are worthy of the greatest interest. Temporary exhibitions are held throughout the year in this charming residence, whose terraces offer a vast view of Stockholm. A delightful café invites visitors to linger in front of a verdant garden where sculptures are reflected in the waters of the fountains.

Eccentric and eco-friendly! Augustenborg, a small district of Malmö, has turned into «Ecoparc», the main attraction of which is the creation of an aerial botanical garden! Understand that the garden was built on the roofs of some buildings in the neighbourhood. You can even learn to make your own green roof! A good example of ecology in urban areas, but reserved for those who love this kind of ecological concept…

In the center of the city, between the train station and the Grand-Place, this park commemorates the battle of Hogland which took place in 1788. You can see the statue of King Charles XIII who, on that occasion, led the Swedish fleet. The park was designed to follow the fashion of the French parks, so there are beautiful geometric areas dotted with flowers. Near the fountain is a bronze statue by Karlskrona native Gunnar Nilsson of the Blekinge girl.

This large, shady, hilly park in the southwestern part of the city is the size of the two districts that make up the old city. There is a good reason for everyone to come and walk the paths, lawns and woods of Slottsskogen: joggers, families with strollers, dog owners, picnickers or outdoor drinkers... In addition to the perfectly maintained green spaces, there are cafes, playgrounds, an observatory, a wildlife park... You will have understood, it is a must!

A few meters from the Ajtte museum, the garden focuses mainly on the mountain flora of the area. You can stroll along the paths, enjoy the landscape, and discover rare flowers with wonderful colors. The garden is maintained with great care and the gardeners strive to recreate small mountain ecosystems in the beds. Ethnobiology is also discussed, describing how people in the North use wild plants.

A huge park that is located southwest of the island of Södermalm. Very lively on sunny days and dominated by large rocks. From the top the view is very beautiful. The Tanto park offers some curiosities like this red wooden house built around a big tree, or the dozens of cottages and their lovely gardens that have been blooming along the slopes of the hill since 1915. A small beach allows you to take a dip... It is the meeting place of Stockholmers who meet in groups to have a good time.

Wij Trädgårdar, one of the country's most beautiful parks, is a 25-minute train ride from Gävle. A very nice place to learn about nature, food, culture and how to combine them. Guided tour, workshops, playground and restaurant. Perfect place for a family afternoon or a romantic walk! In summer, the place organizes seasonal thematic activities and contains 8 different gardens such as the herb garden, the forest garden, the children's garden, and a rose garden!

The lungs of the city. This huge park with a large lake was built to host the Nordic Exhibition in 1914, which was a phenomenal success. Today, it is a favourite with joggers, picnickers and dog walkers. Over the years, the park has seen a number of sculptures added. Traditional sculptures include Galathea by Nils Möllerberg and Kastanj by Bertil Nilsson. The latest sculpture, Iron by Hiroshi Koyama, pleases some and provokes others. You be the judge of what you think!

A must-see for architecture buffs! This wildly ambitious development project began in 2001 and will not be fully completed until 2035. The objective is to transform the former industrial port into a 100% energy self-sufficient eco-district, with a focus on renewable energy. The result is a modern splendor with a very Swedish minimalism: canals running along the streets, lush plazas, floating houses made of glass, wood or steel, vast lawns... and the possibility to dive directly into the Baltic Sea from Daniaparken.

The King's Park is located at the western edge of the old town, separated from the Castle Park by the Parkkanalen and from the city by Slottsgatan. An amusing detail: the castle is located in the King's Park and not in the Castle Park. It is true that there is not much difference between the two spaces, arranged in the English style from 1872 and connected by one or two footbridges. They are both a pleasant place to walk.

We highly recommend that you walk through Lundagård Park, which lies north of the cathedral. Here you will find Kungshuset, also called Lundagårdshuset, a red brick house built in the last half of the ^16th century and former residence of King Frederick II of Denmark. In the park, between Kulturen, the Museum of Folk Art and Traditions and the Student Union building, Tegnér Square is recognizable by the statue of Esaias Tegnér, a famous Romantic poet who was a student at the University of Lund before teaching there.

Hagaparken is a large, popular park on Lake Brunnsviken, containing architecturally remarkable structures and pavilions, part of the city's Royal National Park. Here you'll find a Chinese temple built by Gustav III, or the eco-temple built in 1790 as a dining room for the royal family on fine summer days. The park is extensive and peaceful, and has become an ideal place for outdoor jogging or yoga. You'll also find the Gustav III pavilion.

The street in front of the bishop's palace (Biskopsgatan) leads to the Botanical Garden, with 7,000 plants from all over the world. The institution houses a beautiful museum and a laboratory. The garden is an enchantment for botanists and strollers. You will discover many beautiful species and learn a lot. There is a small store where you can do some shopping for the gardeners, and a very pleasant café invites you to take a gourmet break.

The Vasa Park is, in summer, widely visited by the inhabitants of Norrmalm. It is hard to imagine that during the First World War the site was used to grow potatoes to feed certain classes of the starving population. When the weather is fine, the lawns are full of people and the terraces of the little sheds are always full. There is a large artificial football pitch and a children's playground. The statue Arbetaren (the worker) is a tribute to the working class.

Step off the Liljeholmen metro to find a peaceful, bucolic lake surrounded by forest. Here, in summer, you can enjoy the refreshing waters of the lake for a swim and sunbathe at Trekantsbadet beach. With a walking trail along the lake, you can jog around the park followed by a refreshing dip in the cool water. In winter, when the lake is frozen, why not go ice skating? In Stockholm, it's a very popular activity with the locals, and the children's favorite!

This large park, shaded by rows of large plane trees, was created in the 16th century by King Johan III. In the past, it was used for extensive hop cultivation. A popular place of recreation and rest, it now extends behind the imposing Royal Library. In its centre is a statue dedicated to the naturalist Carl von Linné. A good place for a picnic or a nap.
