ATB
Read moreThe Bergamo public transport company manages the network of urban lines, useful especially for getting around the lower city. Line n° 1 connects the centre to the railway station and the airport (every 20 minutes).
Funicular railway. The ATB also manages the two funiculars that connect the lower town to the upper town. The first runs from Viale Vittorio Emanuele II, the second joins the San Vigilio hill to the south of the city. Installed in 1887, it is the first one that you can take alternatively by bus to reach the historic heart of the city.
AMT

It operates a network of 138 bus lines, 1 metro line, 2 funiculars, 1 creeper, 10 lifts and 1 boat-bus line out of a total of 900 km. Active from 4 a. m. to 3 a. m., the links are efficient and regular.
Genova Pass. 24 h AMT + Trenitalia (except Volabus).
Bus. The city is served by a large network of urban and extra-urban lines.
Subway. A 8-station line connects Brin to the northwestern end of the city at Brignole Station. It is active between 6:30 a. m. and 9:00 p. m.
Funiculars. The two funiculars Zecca Righi and Sant 'Anna and the mesh of Granarolo are one of the best ways to reach the heights of Genoa.
Ascencers. A dozen public lifts connect the city to the upper parts.
It's Navebus. A shuttle boat connects Porto Antico to the west coast of Genoa (Pegli) in 30 min at the same rate as urban transport.
Volabus. Connect Genoa to the aréoport.
MÉTRO

The most important is line 1, which runs past the Vomero (Vanvitelli), the Archaeological Museum (Museo), piazza Dante (Dante), via Toledo (Toledo) and on to the main station (Garibaldi). Line 2, actually built on the railway network, connects Bagnoli and Mergellina with the main station. Finally, line 6 currently connects the Fuorigrotta district with Mergellina, covering 4 stations. Eventually, it will reach Piazza Municipio.

The view from the cabins is breathtaking, especially at night, but don't be afraid of heights: several dozen metres separate you from the ground! A must try because this trip is already a visit in itself and it's easier than parking at the top!

Departures are every 15 minutes and the journey is very fast (about 2 minutes). The feeling of elevation in front of this almost untouched mountain face is striking. Important information: the car parks around Borgo Maggiore are cheaper than those on the heights of the city.

Read moreBicycle rental system set up in 2012 by the city of Verona, with several hundred bicycles spread over some thirty stations. The system works in a similar way to the Vélib' system in Greater Paris. To rent a bike, you have to register in advance on the Internet or at the tourist office. The registration fee is 2 €/day or 5 €/week. A simple and practical way to get around the city and avoid traffic jams. Be careful, the rules are strict: maximum use of 2 hours, from 6am to midnight (overruns penalized).

But don't worry, all timetables and services remain unchanged. You can buy a ticket(biglietto) at newsagents and tobacconists, or at the AT stand in the SMN station, or directly online. Don't forget to punch your ticket (checks are frequent, and fines of around 50 euros can be imposed)!
ATAC

Buses often run late (the fault of Rome's traffic jams!), while the metro works quite well but doesn't serve the whole city - there are only three lines. In the historic center, walk whenever possible. The ATAC website provides maps and a route planner. Applications such as Moovit are also very useful, providing real-time timetables.

Bus. More than 50 bus lines cover all areas of the city.
Tramways. Although modern carriages have almost entirely replaced the old ones, historic models from the early 20th century can still be seen on some lines.
Metro. 5 lines, operating from 6 a.m. to midnight. In addition, the Passante Ferroviario connects Milan's railway stations.
CTM CAGLIARI
Read moreCTM is the company that manages the public buses in Cagliari. The map of the lines is available at the tourist office and also in some museums. The ticket can be used for 90 minutes on the network. Attention, a surcharge is applied if the ticket is bought directly from the driver. There is also a ticket valid for 2 hours that allows you to alternate between different modes of transport and to use the metro. It is also possible to buy a ticket valid for 24 hours or 7 days to be used on the entire bus and metro network.

Fortunately, since 1998 there is a funicular line that connects Catanzaro Sala, in the valley, to Piazza Roma, in the historic center, in just a few minutes. The ticket includes access to the parking lot of the Piè Sala station (unguarded) and even the shuttle bus from Piazza Roma to Piazza Matteotti. With a departure every 15 minutes, the funicular is a convenient and cheap way to reach the center of Catanzaro.
