Other companies provide a connection to the city centre. Taxis are also available.

Twice a week, Ryanair serves Trieste airport (Friuli-Venezia Giulia airport, international code TRS) from Paris-Beauvais airport (BVA). The flight takes 1h50. As always, Ryanair offers unbeatable fares (with flights starting from around €15), but everything is optional: for cabin baggage, you need to add €29; for hold baggage, it's €30, and so on.

The town offers many tourist attractions, including the magnificent Portorož Bay, where visitors can enjoy the beach and water sports. One of the town's highlights is the Palace Hotel - Kempinski, a renovated hotel located right in the center of Portorož. Art lovers can visit the Maona sales gallery, which offers small-format works of art. For diving enthusiasts, the Maona Rossa, a ship sunk by a mine, is a must-see. The town also boasts numerous stores and boutiques where visitors can buy souvenirs and local products, such as Piran salt.

Read moreIt is located west of the city, on the left bank of the Sava River. This is the Jesenice-Ljubljana line. The city is fairly well served during the week, a little less on weekends. To find the bus station, continue past the tourist office (2 Stosiceva ulica). Gorenjska is well served from the country's fourth largest city with Alpe Tour with, for example, about 30 daily buses to Bled and about 15 buses to Bohinjska Bistrica.

Regional buses provide around 20 connections a day to Piran, Koper, Ljubljana, Nova Gorica, Novo Mesto and Pula in Croatia. Comfortable and modern, they make it easy to forget the length of the journey. It has to be said that in Slovenia, we stop in every village - that's what decentralization is all about! From Ljubljana, between two and four departures a day depending on the tourist season, but no express buses.

But also to many cities inland, such as Murska Sobota or Ljubljana via Celje. The station is just a few hundred meters from the historic center. Tickets can be purchased at the central ticket office, which is open all day, or directly on the train from an authorized ticket inspector.
