Several itineraries by bike or on foot have been set up to discover the rich diversity of the Ria of Aveiro and its surroundings. The whole has been named "Great Route of the Aveiro Lagoon":

The Blue Route, 130.8 km, runs along the coastline, through marshes and pine forests, and around the dunes.

The Golden Road, 234 km, mixes sea, valley, and passes by the Vouga ecopiste.

The Green Route, 194 km long, passes through the Vouga valley, vineyards, forest and the center of Aveiro.

This eco-trail for bikes, roller skates and scooters is the largest in Portugal. It runs along the Atlantic coast for 62 km, from Pombal to Obidos. You will have the choice to ride the whole route divided in several roads or to ride only a part of it. From north to south, you will safely cross maritime and forest landscapes. On your way: the beach of Osso da Baleia (departure from Pombal), the lagoon of Ervedeira, Marinha Grande, Alcobaça, Nazaré, Sao Martinho and finally the lagoon of Obidos. Sporty and rejuvenating at the same time!

Bike a wish is a specialist in cycling in Vilamoura and offers various models: single bike, mountain bike, tricycle or tandem with decreasing prices from 3 days. This is a 9.3 km bicycle or pedestrian path stretching from Amarante to Chapa. This section is part of the "Linha do Tâmaga" ecotour, which follows an old railway line, now out of service. Ideal for families to discover the banks of the Tâmega River. This ecotour offers beautiful views. There are benches all along the route for resting. There are also rubbish bins and fairly constant lighting when it is dark. The section of Amarante was built in 2010, there is even an extension of 12 km for the bravest.

Here is a fun activity for the whole family or with friends. The Rail Bike invites you to cross the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park on a "bike" on rails, two people per vehicle. You can choose between 15 km or 32 km (round trip). You will cross a 30 m high bridge dating back to 1930.Panoramic view of the Marvão Castle and the beautiful village of Castelo de Vide along the way.
