D'HELLEKAPELLE
Read moreThe Devil's Chapel, an appellation that inevitably gives envy! Near Mont Noir, a few kilometres from the border, this superb tavern is located. The decoration impresses. Here a huge fresco represents a terribly sexy angel who turns his back on the Malin. There, gargoyles who watch the entrance, gueules wide open. Later, chandeliers come out of the walls, restrained by hands with a strong hand. The atmosphere that reigns here is different from At Jeannot, the café of the corner, you will have understood it! Yet all the ages, all the social environments are found there. We could have believed in an institution that essentially séduirait young people: not even. A solid reputation continues La Chapelle. The map is roast: small ribs, carbonade, stew, famous giant pasta, huge ice creams, etc. Choice in beer, beautiful special coffees. And of course, Belgian prices! An address that we recommend without hesitation!

'T HOF VAN DE HEMEL
Read moreThe'T Hof van de Hemel' has installed its kitchen in one of the oldest houses in the city. First, take the time to admire its facade decorated with pretty homemade ceramics. By pushing the door, no doubt about it: the atmosphere is authentic and friendly like the real Flemish estaminets. The generosity of the owners is the same as that of the proposed kitchen. On the menu? Traditional dishes of the region highlighting the flavour and value of North Sea fish such as shrimp croquettes or bouillabaisse (it is certainly a southern speciality but it is very often cooked in Flanders!). On the menu there are also some pasta recipes, a homemade stew, scampi (with garlic butter of course!) and a sole. But what makes the house special is of course the beer. With a rich menu of more than 100 varieties, fans will not be disappointed! The restaurant has even been an official ambassador for Orval beer since 2016. But above all, it honours local beers such as Sint-Bernardus or De Plukker. And if you can't make your choice, the owners will be happy to help you match your dishes to the best beers. The terrace on sunny days is very nice. A simple and user-friendly address!

DE ABT
Read moreHere, culinary specialties are served with Orval beer. And it's around Karel Van der Cruyssen that the restaurant forges its identity: First World War hero, priest then abbot(abt in Flemish) and, above all, creator of the famous local beer. No wonder the restaurant serves an entire menu based on this beverage (yes, yes, even the dessert!). You'll also be able to try the only Flemish chicken-based carbonnades, which are lighter and tastier. In summer, enjoy the sunny terrace, and in winter, the central fireplace.
LA CRÊPERIE BRETONNE

Just one example: the Saint-Bernard with olive cream, egg, salami, brie cheese and pine nuts! You can enjoy one of the many cocktails, one of the many salads or a good beer among some 250 references, most of which are Belgian. If not, you can drink Breton cider to stay in the mood. Very well known in Louvain-la-Neuve (the house exists since 1975) and to be discovered urgently when you come from outside!
CHEZ DUCHE
Read moreIn July 2022, after 29 years at the helm of the restaurant, Duche (Christophe) handed over to his chef de salle, the young Joris Meurant. While the team has remained the same, the restaurant has undergone a facelift, with a new decor that is modern, warm and elegant. The setting is changing, but the cuisine is still succulent and well-presented, with seasonal variations, including local products (meatballs and rata) and French dishes. Very attentive and professional service. Don't forget to book before you go.

LA GOURMANDISE
Read moreRight in the heart of Rochefort, this is much more than just a restaurant. The brasserie-style cuisine is extensive, with several Trappist-style dishes on the menu. It's hearty and authentic. There's no shortage of beer recommendations, led by the Rochefort range of beers, brewed at the abbey a few miles away. And Rochefort fans won't be disappointed, as the restaurant displays a number of collectors' items linked to this monastic beverage in a Grenier de la Trappiste.
KLOK
Read moreLike a good neighbor, Florent Top Chef Ladeyn has come to open his restaurant in Brussels, retaining the philosophy of his northern establishments: local, seasonal and with the Flemish touch that characterizes him. As the restaurant is located on the first floor of the Hôtel de la Grande Cloche, it's open from breakfast onwards. The "bricks and wood" atmosphere lends itself well to the à la carte lunch (pickled beet, flamiche stuffed with lamb confit, baked pear, cream and chicory), while supper (as we say here) offers a more refined menu.

L'IMPERATIF D'EOLE
Read morePerched above the Chant d'Éole vineyard, the restaurant offers panoramic views of the vines and wind turbines. At the helm, Michelin-starred chef Benoît Neusy promises a delicious journey. His refined cuisine skilfully showcases the estate's produce, with a touch of the exotic. The meal is enhanced by a superb selection of wines, from Belgium and elsewhere, and a sommelier offering excellent advice. The entire team is attentive to your every need, and the chef never hesitates to come into the dining room to chat with guests. An exceptional address.
LE BAIN DES DAMES
Read moreAn iodized Mediterranean air floats through this district of Brussels, well endowed with fine addresses. We cross the inviting terrace to arrive in a somewhat bare room with beige and terracotta walls, but the shelves overflowing with bottles of wine, all natural, are enough to decorate. In the background, you can see the back terrace in Majorelle blue. The menu consists mainly of small dishes to share, with a focus on the sea (panisses, squid or mussels a la plancha, pork terrine and always a dessert). A no-frills address with a change of scenery.
LES COUSINES
Read moreLes Cousines is a vintage-looking restaurant run by two cousins who form an impressive duo. It opened on the banks of the Meuse in March 2020. Their efficient and simple cuisine (hot or cold sandwiches, dumplings, pancakes, ice creams...) does not hide a warm welcome and an ideal location on the banks of the Meuse, conducive to the spirit's stroll. It is an ideal place to put down your hiking bag or to get off your bike; it is also a strategic point on a day of visit to the famous nearby Gardens. A hearty dish of the day announced for the week on the blackboard.
