Based in Amsterdam and founded in 1988, the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) brings together European wildlife parks. It currently has 320 zoological institutions from 35 different European countries, from Ireland to Spain, from Sweden to Kazakhstan. It has even opened up to countries outside Europe, including Israel, Turkey and even further afield, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. EAZA zoos have a total of over 130 million visitors per year. Members adhere to standards of animal care.
