TWISTED
Read moreStreet food inspiration from the streets of Hanoi, Bangkok and New Delhi for this cheap and trendy little restaurant. The interior is sober and modern, but Twisted may well be one of the best Asian restaurants in the capital! The value for money is perfect, excellent lunch for a small fee. Visually, the plates make you salivate, and when you taste them, you are convinced: the flavours are perfect. Among other things, you can enjoy an absolutely divine Massamam chicken curry, accompanied by a bowl of rice. We recommend!
RAVINTOLA RED LOBSTER
Read moreA Sri Lankan specialty restaurant in Naantali? Some would say it's a crazy idea, given the richness of the local gastronomic heritage. And yet, the Red Lobster has managed to make a name for itself and a loyal clientele since it opened. It has to be said that, with the quality of its cuisine and the (welcome) revival of its spicy dishes, the gamble paid off! At lunchtime, for example, there's a very hearty €11 menu (with main course, salad, rice, naan and coffee). A great place to take your mind off things!
MOUNTAIN
Read moreThe charm of a Nepalese restaurant, from the decor to the plates. Offering a subtly spicy cuisine that gently awakens the palate, this good little address is mostly frequented by locals, proof of a deservedly effective word-of-mouth. On the menu, vegetarian, chicken, meat or fish dishes with rice, sweet sauces and a delicious naan. All this, with several choices of spice levels to suit everyone. The portions are absolutely gigantic and the service is charming.
MARIE BAR
Read moreSushi on the Åland Islands? Yes, but not just any sushi! At Marie's, we're talking about sushi made by a couple of young local restaurateurs, who decided to appropriate Japanese culinary codes by seasoning them with Finnish touches. The result, simply delicious and quirky, is enjoyed on the plate, after preparation right before your eyes (and with obviously fresh produce). You'll also find delicious, flavorful poke bowls. A surprising address, but well worth a visit!
LITTLE BANGKOK
Read moreThere aren't many places to eat (well) along route no. 3 from Mariehamn to Lumparland, so when you come across Little Bangkok, you might as well make the most of it (especially on a Sunday lunchtime). No Finnish or Nordic food here, but real Asian dishes, organized à la carte or - the most interesting formula - as an all-you-can-eat buffet. Chicken, pork and fish are deliciously seasoned and served with rice (Cantonese or plain). A fine assortment of sauces is available, and coffee is included in the price.
THAI IN TOWN
Read moreRight across from the train station, a tiny restaurant that locals consider to be the best Thai in town (and even in the region). The menu features some fifteen different (and tasty!) dishes, ranging from the subtly spicy to the downright fiery. A warmly recommended delight, whatever the season.
KIKU86
Read moreA little out of the center of town (but very accessible, like all of Helsinki), Kiku86 seems to have become the reference address in the capital for those who simply love sushi! There are no unpleasant surprises here: everything is made with the freshest fish, and the ritual know-how is reflected in the plate. The menu offers beautiful makis and bowls that are a little less traditional, but just as nourishing.
GAIJIN
Read moreThe second restaurant of the famous Tomi Björck's team, the Finnish Cyril Lignac. Here, North Asian cuisine is celebrated, a mix of dishes inspired by Japan, Korea and North China, with a contemporary twist. Same spirit and same price as Farang, for a delicious journey of the senses. The lunch menu changes weekly and is regularly updated on their website. There is also a tasting menu strongly and deliciously inspired by Japanese cuisine. A little expensive, but delicious. Nice wine list.
LEMON GRASS
Read moreFor those who love Asian food and in particular Thai food, this is one of the best restaurants in town! Lemon Grass is a small Thai restaurant with delicious and cheap dishes. It has a neighborhood restaurant atmosphere, which makes it a very popular place for locals and it's always busy. From the food to the service, everything is perfect and the quality/price ratio is very good. Be careful though, the restaurant is rather small, so think of coming early or making a reservation if you don't want to wait a bit.
FARANG
Read moreDishes from all over Southeast Asia revisited in a contemporary way by the team of renowned chef Tomi Björck (the equivalent of Finland's Cyril Lignac). The result is delicious for both the eyes and the taste buds. The setting is cosy and simple. The bill is a little steep, but the meal is up to the task! A truly astonishing, spicy and epicurean culinary experience, especially if you try the Dégustation menu, which offers a veritable voyage between sashimi, grilled shrimp and other absolutely marvelous curried squash!
