This pretty covered market is just like the neighborhood: good, organic and bobo. You can find good products there, among the stands of fruits and vegetables, fresh meat or fish or world specialities (excellent stand of Spanish delicatessen, Greek specialities... and there is even a Breton stand for those who would miss pancakes and galettes terribly!). The prices are quite high, but the quality of the products is there. You can sit down for a delicious snack, or in the summer go and sit on the terrace

The market hall was built according to the plans of architect Prof. Martin Elsässer and officially opened in January 1914. The Art Nouveau building with reinforced concrete beams and a hall covered with a glass roof is now a listed building. The concept of the market hall forms the basis for its success: special freshness with the highest quality, a large selection of goods, with specialties from many countries. The catering area offers opportunities for enjoyable breaks, for example in the restaurant Markthallengaststätte, in the Mediterranean restaurant Empore and in the Spanish tapas bar.

Freiburg's most popular market is held every day except Sunday on the famous Münsterplatz. If some producers are there every day, the supply varies globally. Here are local and tourists, all attracted by the offer of fruits and vegetables, flowers and wooden toys, by the legendary'Langen-Rot'Bratwurst, but also the gourmet gourmet gourmet gourmets looking for exceptional products. It is easy to use. At the time of the aisles do not hesitate to ask for advice on how to prepare the products offered. Exhibitors are exclusively local farmers, driven by the passion of their profession and proud to make their products known, they will be happy to guide you. There are also more original stands dedicated to mushrooms, gluten-free sweets, antipasti… In short, there is a lot for everyone. If all of this has opened your appetite, you can also take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy a wurst curry and other local specialities offered by the many food trucks there.

This is a small market, less popular than that of the Münsterplatz, more local. Located in the park near the train station, if you are in Freiburg on a Wednesday or Saturday, it is worth a detour. Here, far fewer stands but still a quality that is still present, that small local producers, lovers of their products, who will take all their time to talk to you. Because there are fewer people, the atmosphere is more peaceful and we like to exchange with farmers. There are fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, bread, meat, fish, cheese and Italian products. Prices are once again at the meeting, but you are warned: in Germany we are not negotiating the market (and on one side we do not need it). Finally to complete your gourmet shopping in this friendly and relaxed atmosphere, you can stop at the small coffee stand to chat around an espresso and a pastry, quietly installed in the park.
