The German National Day celebrates the signing of the Reunification Treaty on 3 October 1990, the day of German Unity.
You may be surprised to find that on 3 October, Germany's national holiday, almost nothing happens. There is no patriotic fervour on this day, which celebrates German reunification. And certainly no military parade. It's a holiday like so many others. Because of federalism, the official festivities take place every year in the capital of a different state. In 2020, it will be in Potsdam, the capital of Brandenburg, in 2021 in Magdeburg, etc.
