SZARA GĘŚ W KUCHNI

Polish restaurant €€€
4.5/5
2 reviews

Located on the Place du Grand Marché, this restaurant's first attraction is its modern, well-kept setting, its spacious rooms and warm gray tones enhanced by rich fabrics. But it's the cuisine that really counts here. Delicate, sophisticated, gastronomic. You'll fall in love with its seasonal dishes, made with farm-to-table fresh produce from sustainable agriculture (a rare gesture in Poland, and one to be applauded). Although this establishment has won over the local critics, it has yet to win the Michelin international accolade, so make the most of it.

RESTAURACJA PIWNICZKA

Polish restaurant €€

Certainly one of the best restaurants in town, simply because of its exceptional location, as it is the resident restaurant of the castle. The prices are slightly inflated but the food is divine, despite its very touristy approach. The menu as well as the decor are reminiscent of the Poland of nobles and knights. The meat dishes in particular are worth trying. In summer, enjoy the beautiful terrace on the river side. The rest of the year, try to go there during off-peak hours, the place is even more pleasant in small company.

ZAPIECEK

Polish restaurant €€
4/5
3 reviews

A classic restaurant in the "traditional thatched cottage" style, with pots and pans hanging everywhere and lots of wood for a real country feel. The place is nevertheless very friendly and simple, serving pierogi of all kinds, as well as the great classics of Polish cuisine. Unbeatable value for money. A restaurant whose concept is spreading throughout the city, and the recipe seems to be working. The service team's kitschy outfits seem to be working too! Guaranteed success!

WESELE

Polish restaurant €€
4/5
3 reviews

On the Rynek, this traditional Polish restaurant is a lesser-known, and therefore less rogue, address than all the others with a street-side terrace. Its rustic white-and-red decor, with a traditional wedding theme, and generous, hearty cuisine at reasonable prices, make it a consistently pleasant address in the heart of the city. Another advantage is the beautiful view of the square from the dining room on the1st floor. The restaurant's menu includes several vegetarian options.

BAL

Polish restaurant
4/5
1 review

Located just behind the MOCAK museum and the Schindler factory, the Bal is the opposite of a typical Krakow restaurant. If the entrance is more like a warehouse, don't be fooled by appearances: inside you'll find a bright, creative restaurant-café with white walls, large wooden tables and a decor that has been stripped of all unnecessary details. A pleasant terrace is revealed in summer, while an alternative cultural program takes place there all year long. A very nice address that contributes to the charm of this arts district.

BAR MLECZNY BAMBINO

Polish restaurant
3/5
3 reviews

A mleczny bar as we like them: a setting that hasn't changed since the Soviet era, and the same goes for its menu and its cold, expeditious service, which you'll find in all its counterparts. After all, milk bars are notorious for not cutting any corners. At least, you can eat good, authentic food at rock-bottom prices (that's what these government-funded restaurants are all about). A vintage address that's easy to appreciate, especially when you get the bill.

MNISZE CO NIECO

Polish restaurant

Located in the abbey complex on the banks of the Vistula River, this restaurant offers simple, traditional, home-cooked Polish cuisine. This is a monastery restaurant, so don't expect gargantuan proportions, luxury in the decor (or even superfluous comfort) or a menu that stretches to the floor. There are few things, the tastes in the kitchen are simple, but in the end you are well provided for and served. The speciality of the restaurant are the pierogi, with white cheese, meat, cabbage, mushrooms or spinach.

RESTAURACJA SALINA

Polish restaurant €€€

In the heart of downtown, this refined restaurant with a superb interior with a ceiling in the shape of an upturned ship's hull, tasteful furnishings and a fashionable industrial decor combining wood, steel and leather, offers modern and refined Polish cuisine based on fresh products from local farms. The menu has a special emphasis on grilled meats, which we recommend. Moreover, the restaurant is famous (and proud) for its wine cellar, so don't hesitate to use it but not abuse it.

KARCZMA MLYNSKA

Polish restaurant €€

Located in an old attic dating back to the 1870s, this restaurant tries to recreate an "old Poland" atmosphere with rustic, country-style interiors. The cuisine is of course traditional, featuring old recipes straight from the Soviet era, and regional specialties. It's a very pleasant summer garden on the banks of the Brda River: ideal for fine weather. Last but not least, the Karczma Młyńska operates on two levels, each of which can accommodate 60 people, guaranteeing a degree of privacy.

BAR PUCHATEK

Polish restaurant

This milk bar is probably the most economical option you will find in Malbork. Homemade soups, pierogis, schnitzel... the great classics of Polish cuisine, generous portions and low prices. A good option in this city that lacks a little bit of sophisticated catering or that really follows the tourists' tastes. After all, it would be a pity to go and eat in one of the big international restaurant chains that swarm in the city center and around the castle.

GOSPODA U KRAKOWIAKA

Polish restaurant €€

Old Polish cuisine restaurant in a traditional setting with large wooden benches, fireplace, antlers hanging on the walls, waiters in traditional costume. The chef in the kitchen offers his guests a wide range of dishes from the old Polish cuisine. The Krakowiak tavern is huge, with a capacity of about 300 people on its two floors, so don't be surprised by the crowds or by the events it hosts. The portions are hearty and the food is very good with regular folk music performances.

U FLISAKA

Polish restaurant €€

A restaurant on a boat moored in front of the castle where you can enjoy Polish dishes on the go, especially made with fish. It also has a menu and a playground for children. Excellent address for visitors in a hurry or who don't want to bother with a long lunch break. The menu offers a small selection of dishes, and although the food is not very hearty, nor very tasty, it does the job, when the setting takes care of the rest. The prices on the other hand are somewhat high.

OGNIEM I MIECZEM

Lithuanian restaurant €€

A charming little address that has been in existence for almost twenty years, making the most of its pretty wooden chalet, obviously decorated in the rustic style of a mountain cottage, with its wooden walls, flowers and rural ornaments. If the name "De feu et d'acier" refers to a temple of Polish literature, it's to bring visitors back to the distant past of its recipes, immersing them in Polish and Lithuanian culinary traditions, with a wide choice of meat and game dishes.

PIEROGARNIA STARY MŁYN

Polish restaurant €€

A successful chain offering excellent pierogi cooked to suit all tastes and sauces. The menu features all kinds of specialties and tasty dishes that could have come straight out of a real Polish grandmother's kitchen. The dishes are therefore slightly different from what you'd expect to find in traditional cuisine, with quiches, soups, salads and a wide choice of desserts. In short, you're in for a treat at this rustic restaurant, which is very popular with the locals. We recommend the specialties and the grilled pierogi.

BAR MLECZNY CENTRALNY

Polish restaurant

Nowa Huta's central milk bar is part of a well-established chain. Its stodgy, proletarian appearance is completely reminiscent of the socialist era, which is particularly easy to do in this neighborhood. The room is very large, and looks like a canteen. The menu, typical of these establishments, is obviously not translated, so you'll have to draw on your best Polish pronunciation or find a generous customer to translate for you, because the staff won't have the patience to please you. A 100% authentic experience.

KARCZMA POLSKA POD KOGUTEM

Polish restaurant €€

In the city center, this restaurant offers traditional Polish cuisine (but the menu, adapted to its location on the Baltic, also includes French fries and shrimps) in a warm, rustic atmosphere. Fish caught offshore is also served. The establishment has an atypical appearance: that of a wooden hut, copying typical mountain architecture (not common by the sea), but which remains warm in its own way.

ZALEWAJKA

Polish restaurant €€

In a quiet street, not far from the Wysoka synagogue, this restaurant with a Mediterranean decoration, sober and bright, is specialized in Polish cuisine... but not just any cuisine, it is an authentic grandmother's cuisine that fills the stomach and regulates the hunger in the world (or at least your caloric intake of the week)! This is a very nice address, not to be missed, in the heart of the Jewish Quarter. Especially if you are a big eater, or simply hungry: you won't be disappointed by the size of the dishes served.
