One of the most beautiful addresses in Thamel. This beautiful boutique hotel seduces by its location, at the end of a quiet alley, but especially by its Newar style architecture. Born out of the desire to preserve traditional Nepalese architecture, the establishment puts the art of woodcarving to the forefront, from the façade and corridors of the imposing red brick building to the rooms, entirely decorated with local handicrafts. Special mention for the hotel's committed eco-friendly policy and for its beautiful courtyard.

One of the friendliest addresses in Thamel. This small haven of peace is run by Yves, a native Breton and his wife Sangita, both surrounded by a smiling team. No wonder the address has its regular customers. A large nicely planted garden and good breakfasts served on the terrace overlooking the Swayambunath temple complete the picture. The sober and clean rooms are distributed in two buildings located one behind the other. All have an adjoining bathroom. We like it.

This Frenchwoman, who has lived in Patan for many years, offers cocoon apartments, jewels of characterful Newar architecture, superbly restored and furnished. Every detail of decoration is tastefully thought out, and the facilities are adapted to both short and long stays. Built under the Malla dynasty, this house has undergone renovations supervised by Unesco. The guest house was built to preserve the Newar architecture. Charm and tradition combine with a warm welcome. Bricks, wood carvings, typical small doors (less than 1.80 m high!), alcoves, floor mats... The rooms and common areas are airy, comfortable and recently refreshed, and the garden is very pretty. This hotel is a little museum, immersing you in the Newari atmosphere of the time.

The hotel is well worth a visit for its central location and large garden, as well as for the many services on offer. Between the terra cotta tiles throughout the house and the beautifully beamed ceilings in the rooms, there is a cosy and natural atmosphere that feels good. The decoration of the terrace and the dining room are also remarkable. A very good address.

This guesthouse, part of the Shechen monastery, is charmingly understated. The buildings are attractive, bordering a garden planted with trees. The 23 rooms are quiet and well-equipped: pretty bedspread, wardrobe, kettle, parquet flooring... everything you need is here, even if comfort remains modest. In the center, a pleasant garden where fresh salads and herbs are grown is used to supply the kitchens of the adjoining Rabsel Café, which offers vegetarian dishes: tofu, pasta, rice dishes... It's a welcoming place where you can chat with the monks.

On the ground floor: Dining room, terrace and small vestibule in which an imposing buffet is decorated with photos of families. On the floor: 6 rooms, 4 with shared bathroom. Those with views are not more expensive and offer a nice panorama of the terrace cultures and the valley. A simple address, which has the typical charm of limbu architecture. On the kitchen side, nothing to report, you can taste your eyes closed.

The rooms are spacious, with en suite bathroom, TV and wifi, but of varying quality. Ask to visit before making your choice and try to get one of the best. The staff is considerate. Of interest is the large dining room, which can be convenient if you come in a group.

Located away from the hustle and bustle of Thamel, this inn is divided into two wings: one, rather old and less recommendable, and the other, more modern. Prefer the rooms in this building, which are much brighter and more comfortable. Equipped with satellite TV and, for the more expensive ones, air conditioning, they offer basic comfort but do the job. The lush roof terrace with a view of Nagarun can be enjoyed at breakfast time.

As part of this ecotourism project, Surya Bahadur and his family offer 4 double beds separated by curtains in a well-appointed room. The house has toilets and bathroom.
