LA GLACE DU GOUM

Glacier
4/5
1 review

Moscow has its own Berthillon: the Goum ice cream. On July 3, 1954, it was decided to sell ice cream to the working masses in the Goum. Since then, vanilla or plain waffle cones, known as plombir, have become an integral part of any visit to Red Square for residents and guests of the capital. Today, the list of flavors has been expanded to include black currant, cherry, pistachio and strawberry, but the homemade recipe remains unchanged. If you are lucky enough to be in Moscow on July 3, enjoy it for free!

It is a tea club without equivalent in Moscow, which is very fond of this kind of establishments. It takes the form of a stand with a small bar in the middle of which sits the huge samovar from which the water for the infusions is served. On the spot, 36 kinds of teas, especially Pu-erh and other types of Chinese teas, as well as milkshakes, pastries and 70 flavours of homemade ice creams with original recipes based on tea (and some with moose milk)! Not to be missed in winter, the walkers of the Gorki park often queue there.

KOFE NA KUHNE

Patisserie

The name of the establishment means "coffee in the kitchen". The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. The neat and cosy decoration lends itself to long breaks with friends with a cup of hot drink and a plate of sirnikis (fritters made of fresh cheese, flour and eggs) with jam. The roasting of the coffee as well as the baking of the pastries or the preparation of the sandwiches takes place in front of the customers' eyes. Other establishments of the same team in town: Bol'she Kofe, Znakom'tes, Joe!, Prostovino, Obichnie liudi & Bols'he coffee roasters.

CAFÉ LASTOCHKA

Patisserie

When walking on Petrogradskaya Island, comfort + warmth + a pastry break means Lastochka ("the swallow" in French). The cosy cafés of St. Petersburg have a special know-how and border on the art of living, and L'Hirondelle holds a place of honour in the hearts of the locals. The place may not look like much at first glance, but you feel like you're in a real rest stop, away from the noisy city, with a cup of hot drink and a view of the people passing by through the panoramic windows. Grab a book, a sea buckthorn tea, and give yourself a well-deserved break.
