MARCHÉ KOUZNETCHNY

Market

The most popular market in Petersburg. There is also a curious antique shop in the market hall, which is impossible to miss. Pay attention to the babushkas selling solenias, flowers and herbs in front of the market entrance. Sometimes their goods are of better quality and always cheaper than in the stalls under the hall. In the near future, the market will be rebuilt and modernized like the European markets, but it is not yet clear when the work will start.

LA GLACE DU GOUM

Glacier
4/5
1 review

Moscow has its own Berthillon: the Goum ice cream. On July 3, 1954, it was decided to sell ice cream to the working masses in the Goum. Since then, vanilla or plain waffle cones, known as plombir, have become an integral part of any visit to Red Square for residents and guests of the capital. Today, the list of flavors has been expanded to include black currant, cherry, pistachio and strawberry, but the homemade recipe remains unchanged. If you are lucky enough to be in Moscow on July 3, enjoy it for free!

CHUDNYI STARIOVCHIK

Market

When the "Soviet style" becomes a fashion like Art Deco makes the joy of all the connected collectors, a recently opened magazin allows the Western eyes to truly discover what has been so far only an idea out of films and books and fed by the most diverse myths. One walks in a hustle of diverse objects, on the background of retro music, and one can ask questions to sellers dressed in Soviet style. In short, an ideal place for lovers of improbable curiosities and those nostalgic for the beds in the formica shades.

RUBISCOOKIES

Delicatessen

Far from the stereotypical souvenir shops, we advise you to push the door of this extraordinary confectionery shop. Lollipops in the shape of portraits of Russian writers or tourist sites, white chocolate pelmenis, sweets of all shapes and colors... Willy Wonka would be envious in front of so much imagination! The symbol of the shop is his lucky chocolate ticket, a replica of a numbered public transport ticket, the sum of the first three digits of which is equal to the sum of the last three.

When walking on Petrogradskaya Island, comfort + warmth + a pastry break means Lastochka ("the swallow" in French). The cosy cafés of St. Petersburg have a special know-how and border on the art of living, and L'Hirondelle holds a place of honour in the hearts of the locals. The place may not look like much at first glance, but you feel like you're in a real rest stop, away from the noisy city, with a cup of hot drink and a view of the people passing by through the panoramic windows. Grab a book, a sea buckthorn tea, and give yourself a well-deserved break.

Here is another gasto market that has managed to nestleits 25 corners in an 18th century mansion on Balchug Island, just a few steps from Red Square. The hustle and bustle of Moscow's other food markets is not yet seen here, which helps to preserve the exemplary ownership of the premises and to organize better service. In addition, in summer you can enjoy a small, quiet terrace. We especially like the fish restaurant Treskat' and We Cidreria, a chain with a wide selection of ciders and tapas.
