PEDRA DO SAL

Cafconcert
5/5
1 review

Pedra do Sal is a historical and religious monument, and above all an unmissable place of celebration. It is the heart of the Afro culture of the descendants of slaves in Rio, where musicians, samba and chorinho singers meet directly in the street. Every Monday (old worker's day off) samba rodas attract a crowd of dancers and party people, who come to drink a beer and eat a Brazilian dish. The place is very charming, in the middle of small colonial houses, cobbled streets and street art frescoes. The neighborhood is not very safe.

TRAPICHE GAMBOA

Cafconcert

The Trapiche Gamboa is one of the sure values of the samba ("the" samba say the sambistas cariocas). Le Trapiche Gamboa is a samba club in a superb property dating from 1867 and completely renovated. On the ground floor, there is the stage and many tables in the heart of the atmosphere of the samba ao vivo (excellent samba roda on Saturday night). The show can be enjoyed here over a good cold beer or a dish. Upstairs, a more intimate and quiet space to nibble some pasteis while watching the sambistas !

TEATRO ESPAÇO

Concert halls

We had already mentioned the fantastic work of the puppeteers from the Très Portas pousada team in Tiradentes. The teatro espaço is also a must for puppet lovers. There is a fantastic silent puppet show on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9pm (as well as Fridays and Saturdays in high season), which is internationally renowned and always full. The "teatro" presents itself as a group of storytellers since 1971. You'd swear the puppets are alive! We encourage this tremendous energy.

TEATRO MIGUEL SANTANA - BALÉ FOLCLORICO

Concert halls

The Teatro Miguel Santana hosts the Folkloric Ballet of Salvador where the spectator can feel the energy of the Bahian culture. One is close to the stage and the vibrations of the many dancers who alternate five choreographies illustrating with all the emotions the orixás of candomblé, the maculelê and the capoeira. The ballet, created in 1988, is the only company of its kind in Brazil, recognized by both the public and specialized critics!

A great classic! It was inaugurated in 1884, rua Dr Muricy. The present building dates from 1953, to commemorate the centenary of the political emancipation of the State. The project to build the theatre was decided at the end of the 1940s and construction began in 1952. During this decade, Paraná experienced the peak of the maté economy and, in the northern region, the beginning of the coffee expansion, and it was only inaugurated in 1974. GRAN CINE BARDOT

Cinema €€

Our national B.B. being omnipresent in Búzios, it was necessary to have a cinema with its name! This magnificent 111-seat theater is almost worth the trip to Buzios if you are a lover of the seventh art. It has a collection of more than 6,000 films. It shows the latest films, with a slight preference for French productions. Also a bar and a pousada, a nice place and a bit selective. The owner of the place had reopened the theater after the health crisis with Le Mépris, a film by Jean-Luc Godard with B.B.

CAPOEIRA

Concert halls

On the beach, at sunset, you can watch a capoeira demonstration, one of the most intense and authentic in Brazil. Unlike Pelourinho, where tourists are asked (sometimes forcefully) to pay for the demonstration of this Brazilian dance wrestling, here only the pleasure counts. The capoeiristas are here to please and to please themselves. One can attend, in this fairy-like setting, magnificent and impressive rodas of capoeiristas where the fighters link the gingas at an impressive speed.

THEATRO DA PAZ

Concert halls

The "Theatro" still organizes operas and concerts of the Belém Orchestra. The Theatro da Paz is a venerable establishment built in 1878, during the heyday of the "rubber cycle" that brought an economic boom to the entire Amazon region. Belém, then considered the "rubber capital", still did not have a theatre capable of hosting operas. The provincial government hired the military engineer José Tiburcio de Magalhães, who designed the theatre inspired by La Scala in Milan.

CORTEJO AFRO

Concert halls

The bloco was born on 2 July 1998. Symbolically, July 2 is the day of the independence of the state of Bahia, whose African heritage the bloco claims. This Afro-Brazilian musical procession makes its percussion ring out loudly in the streets of Pelourinho. African music is mixed with pop, electro and other rhythms. The aesthetics of the sounds of the dances and the costumes have been carefully worked out and improved by the creator of the Cortejo, Alberto Pitta, an artist-plastician immensely known and appreciated in Salvador.

ZEPPELIN OLD BAR

Cafconcert

An excellent place to have a drink and listen to music ao vivo (live), be it rock, jazz, blues, Brazilian popular music or reggae. One of the most festive places in Foz d'Iguaçu. Pearl Jam, Nirvana, all the Seattle and UW alumni will of course have a little twinge in their heart for this revival of the 90s. Those who love the ever-rich Brazilian alternative and rock scene won't be disappointed either. Raul Seixas fans, still numerous, can come and listen to covers of their idol's songs.
