TEATRO GUAIRA

The Guaira cultural center and theater was inaugurated in 1884, rua Dr Muricy, but the current theater dates from 1953, the year commemorating the centenary of the state's political emancipation. The project to build the theater was decided in the late 1940s, and construction began in 1952. During this decade, Paraná saw the peak of the maté economy and, in the northern region, the beginning of the coffee boom. It was only inaugurated in 1974. The Centro Cultural Teatro Guaíra has become one of the largest cultural complexes in Latin America.
