Behind Place Jelačić, the large central market is not to be missed. Its origins date back to the 1930s, when the upper and lower cities were still battling it out. Every day, especially on Saturdays, it's a lively and colorful place. Small farmers, market gardeners, butchers, fishmongers, florists, woodworkers, junk dealers... each with their own stall.
