This huge marina, in the hollow of the bay, is famous in the Gulf of Kvarner. In Croatia and Istria in particular, the rail network is underdeveloped. Based on a railroad line running alongside the sea, a 15-minute walk from the town center, Pula's train station is somewhat isolated. It only serves regional lines. Tickets are available for inland Istrian towns such as Pazin and Buzet, and as far as Koper, a Slovenian seaside resort on the border. For Rijeka, the train stops at Lupoklav, where a bus completes the journey. More connections for northern Istria to Trieste or Ljubljana.

There are many buses on the island, which is connected to the Dubrovnik regional network via ferries from Orebič (Pelješac). One to two daily buses in tourist season to Dubrovnik, one bus to Zagreb via Split. Several buses a day to Vela Luka pass by the inland road to serve the villages of Žrnovo, Pupnat, Čara, Smokvica and Blato. A bus almost every hour during the day to Lumbarda and a few buses a day to Račišće and Kneža.

In the lower town, where the active city with its supermarkets is located, the small bus station is a busy crossroads. Local buses shuttle passengers to the upper town, where the historic center unfolds, while regional coaches (Arriva-Autotrans, Brioni) pick up or drop off passengers from a popular regular service: Zagreb-Pula. The route passes through Karlovac, Rijeka, Opatija, Lovran, Plomin, Rabac... It skirts a beautiful stretch of rugged coastline.

Located northeast of the city center, the bus station handles heavy traffic on regional routes (Umag, Rovinj, Poreč, Vrsar, Opatija, Pazin, Medulin, Labin...), daily connections to Rijeka-Zagreb, Dubrovnik via Zadar and Split. Numerous buses to towns in neighboring countries, Italy, Trieste, Padua, Venice, Milan, Southern Slovenia and as far as Ljubljana. Rijeka Airport is located on Krk Island, near the village of Omišalj. The island is connected to the mainland by a bridge, so Rijeka, Opatija, Crikvenica and the main towns of the island are easily accessible. You can rent a car at the airport and start your island stay without having to go through urban areas. The airport welcomes Croatia Airlines as well as Ryanair, Air Berlin, Volotea. Rijeka's railway station is the largest in the country, after Zagreb. Just 10 minutes north of the bus station and Korzo (central shopping street), it is located in the former docklands district, which is currently undergoing major urban redevelopment. Big infrastructure where many bus companies provide regular trips to and from Zadar. For example, Autotrans-Arriva offers daily tickets to Zagreb-Split-Dubrovnik, Istria, the island of Korčula, etc. Flixbus, the European company, has established its sales point here, Liburnija Bus provides daily rotations with the airport. In the extension of Kneza Branimira Avenue, a large marina close to the Zvončac residential area. To the south-east of the town centre, in the extension of the sea promenade(riva), this recently renovated marina offers many services for boaters (sanitary facilities, reception, Internet access, bar-restaurant). The Venezia Line company connects the ports of Istria with Venice. Jadrolinija, Adriatic Lines and Jadroagent provide rotations to the islands of the Gulf of Kvarner (Unije-Susak-Mali Lošinj-Ilovik-Silba) as far as Zadar. Thanks to its natural shallow gully, an important marina is located in the Gulf of Kvarner. The bus station in Poreč, a busy area, is a large complex. It is both a terminal for national buses and a terminus for local buses, which are connected to the surrounding villages and to Croatian and border towns. Some lines, passing through Pula, run several times a day, all week long, to Vinkovci, Ljubljana, Padua, Trieste and Zagreb. The Umag-Varaždin line crosses the entire country, passing through Novigrad, Poreč, Vrsar, Rovinj, Pula, Labin, Opatija, Rijeka, Karlovac, Zagreb..

The national ferry company Jadrolinija charters a ferry from Prapratno (Pelješac) to Sobra in all seasons. The trip takes 45 minutes, and it is possible to take your car with you. There are several ferries per day. Please note that in the summer, the number of available places for cars on Croatian ferries may be limited due to the large number of tourists. It is not possible to reserve a seat in advance, so you must arrive well in advance at the boarding point. If you miss the last ferry, you will have to stay on the island.

As the metal structure of the elevator has remained unchanged since its construction in the late ^19th century, the funicular is listed as a Croatian historical monument. It is therefore more of a tourist attraction than a real means of transport up to Kaptol, in the upper town. The short ride offers beautiful views of the historic center. On arrival, it drops you off near the Lotrščak tower on Strossmayerovo šetalište alley, where you'll find a tourist information office and other panoramic viewpoints.

Dating back to the end of the 19th century, this station remains a beautiful classic showcase because it was never caught in an interlacing of rails in the open air. The building has a neoclassical pediment, a royal staircase and frontispieces. The much redesigned interior is less impressive. There you will find luggage lockers, cafe-bars and some shops. Regional trains but also connections to Rijeka, Karlovac or Zadar by night train and then connection to Knin (end of journey by bus).

The local shipping company (Rapska plovidba d.d.), which is based on the island, is mainly engaged in connecting Rab with the mainland. The departureruns all year round between the port of Rab and the port of Tovarnele (Lun), on the northern part of the island of Pag. The boat carries passengers and bicycles only. No cars or motorised two-wheelers. The rate of weekly rotations increases in the summer season, and the boats can quickly be full. The return trips can also be disrupted if the weather is bad, but this is rare in summer.

Ljubo Gamulin, his father Jadran and their partners have only one passion: the Mediterranean, on which they have been sailing for decades. Jadran, who founded the agency, has been working as a skipper since 1968 and has won several competitions. His son Ljubo has been sailing for a living since 1989, and has also won regattas. Father and son rent out sailing boats (for a minimum of six people) and offer skipper services. The boats are located in the Dubrovnik marina as well as in the Orsan marina in Lapad (city center).

Jadrolinija offers round-trip ferries to Preko, Brbinj, Molat, Sestrunj, Zverinac, Bršanj, Mali Lošinj, Silba, Olib, Premuda and Ist. Catamarans also serve Molat, Brgulje, Zapuntel, Ist, Iž, Rava, Rivanj, Sestrunj, Zverinac, Božava and Brbinj.

G & V Lines, with its fast catamarans, also runs services from Zadar to Iž, Rava, Sali, Zaglav, Sali and Bršanj.

It's not really a bus station, but a large parking lot that serves as a bus station with two major agencies: Arriva-Autotrans for all destinations in Istria, to Rijeka, Zagreb, Dalmatia, etc., and Autotrolej, which runs tourist buses for excursions along the Opatija and Rijeka rivieras. This Italian shipping company - which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2023 - has a strong presence in the Adriatic Sea. During the tourist season from May to the end of October, its ferries and catamarans run between the Italian, Slovenian and Croatian coasts. This private shipping company connects Dubrovnik to Split in a 4.5-hour catamaran ride via Mjlet (Pomena), Korčula, Hvar and Brač (Milna), from early April to late October. This same route is also covered by the state-owned company Jadrolinija, but its catamarans only start in early June and do not stop in Mljet. If you travel without a car and want to go from Dubrovnik to Split, the catamaran is a good solution: the sea crossing is still more expensive than the bus, but it avoids traffic jams on the road and the duration of the trip is similar.

This shipping company also acts as a travel agency. Its agents offer cruises departing from Opatija, Zadar, Split or Dubrovnik, stays at sea for one or two weeks, festive holiday offers (day and night outings at sea, for clubbers, with music and DJs on board)... Katarina Line also organizes day bus tours in Istria and can take care of finding you a hotel or a holiday rental. A good option for a relaxing trip at sea or on the roads.

This bus transport agency has been in existence for over 70 years. It has been around since the beginnings of tourism in the region. It covers Istria, the Croatian mainland and the Gulf of Kvarner, with regular rotations to Split, Zagreb and Rijeka. Routes and tours all over the peninsula as far as Belgrade or Trieste. Contrary to their name, there are no buses in the Brioni archipelago, and no passenger or private vehicles are allowed. Also offers an airport shuttle service.

Established in 2017 in Split, the private shipping company has quickly found its stride. Its fleet of fast and comfortable catamarans operates high-speed routes: Pula, (Unije-Susak), Mali Lošinj (Ilovik-Silba), Zadar. In addition to coastal shipping, Catamaran Line organizes sea transfers to Split (Resnik airport and ferry port) as well as private crossings or group excursions (upon reservation).

This company provides airport transfers. Departure and arrival at the bus station or near the ramparts. Timetables can be consulted on the airport website. For the urban network, leave the station at the central bus stop on the main avenue Ante Starčevića and choose your bus according to your destination. Buses no. 2, 4 and 9 drop you off at the gates of the old town, either on the bridge side (Gradi Most) or on the forum side (Narodni Trg). For marina and sea access, bus no. 5 and 8 (Puntamika, Borik, Diklo).

On the south riviera, about ten kilometres from Split, just past Podstrana, this marina completes the ferry traffic with a private catamaran service. Specially chartered for tourists, the boats make daily rotations to Dubrovnik via either Brač, Makarska, Korčula and Mljet or via Milna (Hvar), Korčula and Mljet. Crossings to Rijeka, Losinj and Susak also exist. Faster and more comfortable, they are also more expensive. Reservation recommended in high season.

The German low-costbus company has been operating in Croatia since 2016 and covers the whole country well. Flixbus has outlets in the major bus stations of the country's main cities and tourist destinations: Zagreb, Split, Zadar, Dubrovnik, on the entire west coast of Istria, the island of Krk. Booking in the shop is more expensive than via the website or the application. The journey is punctuated by frequent stops, and there is a free Wifi connection, air conditioning, WC on board.

This brand new airport is the second in the country in terms of air traffic, after Zagreb. The work has led to the complete reconstruction and expansion of the old terminal. Its proximity to Trogir and the marina of Kaštel Gomilica is very convenient. Regular buses rotate with the city center of Split at 25 km (4 €) and only 5 km to Trogir (2.70 €). From France, Croatia Airlines, Air France but also Volotea provide many connections throughout the year.

On the island of Mljet, there is a bus service, but the runs are not frequent and there are only two lines (Saplunara-Sobra and Pomena-Sobra). So, for those who are not motorized, it is useful to have the contact of this good collective cab service, both for long and short distances, such as getting from Polače to Pomena or Sobra for the ferry. Everywhere along the coast and in the Adriatic Islands you will find points of sale for the purchase of tickets without reservation. Ferries and catamarans remain the main means of transport in southern Croatia, whether you are motorised or just pedestrians. Jadrolinija also provides connections to Italy, to Ancona from Split and Zadar and to Bari from Dubrovnik. From May to October, the activity of the marina intensifies with the arrival of Italian yachtsmen. 500 m from the harbour master's office is the famous Stella Maris tennis centre where the region's most important tennis tournament (ATP Croatia Open) has been held every July for over twenty years. In addition, during the tourist season, the Italian ferry company Venezia Lines operates weekly crossings between Venice and Umag

For pleasure boaters, on the south coast of the Montraker Peninsula, a small marina was built in 2001 according to the latest environmental protection standards (berthing capacity of 220 boats with mooring depths ranging from 4 to 14 m). As such and for the quality of its equipment, it has received several international awards and has been proclaimed the best marina on the eastern Adriatic coast on several occasions. This is the newest of the marinas in the area. The pedestrian surroundings have been converted into a seaside promenade. The setting is pleasant and walking around is a real pleasure. In the evening, the marina comes alive to the rhythm of the locals and tourists who enjoy the place.

A recently created Spanish airline, Volotea has rapidly established itself in the low-cost air transport sector. In Europe, its aircraft connect several regional capitals with direct, non-stop flights (Boeing 717 and Airbus A319) at very economical prices, made even more attractive by a subscription system for regular travelers.
