Budget & Tips
Hiking in Switzerland is one of the most popular activities. The playing field is vast, and numerous associations offer outings for all levels. The Suisse Rando association , www.randonner.ch, is a very detailed site with maps, itineraries and events.
Locally, and depending on the season , walks are organized to taste local produce. Wine tasting and walks through the vineyards are very popular. It's a great way to get in touch with the growers and enjoy a good meal while you're out and about. https://swisswine.ch/fr - www.geneveterroir.ch/fr/ - www.mescavesouvertes.ch
If you're looking for activities and sports and want to share these moments with others, the "on va sortir" website www.onvasortir.com encourages you to get moving while discovering new things.
What's very local
In winter, join the Swiss in their thermal baths. Some of the best-known are at Saillon, Ovronnaz, Yverdon les bains... More info at torpille.ch/thermal-baths-switzerland-romande/
For the more adventurous, take part in the various winter water races where you can swim in a lake in the middle of winter, such as the Coupe de Noël in Geneva.
If you want to continue your activities in the cold season, strap on your snowshoes or skis and discover Switzerland's beautiful mountain scenery.

It's hard to believe, but the destination attracts divers. Lake Geneva, Lake Zurich and the mountain lakes attract divers. PADI certification is the most popular www.padi.com/fr/plonger-en/suisse/
For those who prefer to be on the surface and pilot boats, the French boating license is recognized. Beware, however, of differing legislation for lakes with border waters, such as Lake Geneva.
To be booked
If you want to do an activity with a limited number of participants, remember to book in advance.
Main events
In Switzerland, athletes and spectators alike can enjoy participating in or watching various disciplines all year round.
Early September sees the start of one of the world's finest marathons inInterlaken : the Jungfrau Marathon, a grueling 49 km mountain race at an altitude of 1,839 meters, set against a spectacular backdrop at the foot of three magnificent peaks: the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau.
Also in September, the European Masters golf tournament in Crans Montana, a Valais tourist destination, is one of the best-endowed European Tour events. An 18-hole course at an altitude of 1,500 m on the Haut Plateau of Crans-sur-Sierre, together with sublime scenery, give this sporting competition a unique mountain atmosphere.
When it comes to skiing, Switzerland naturally plays a major role in the Alpine Skiing World Cup calendar. January is traditionally racing month. Every year, giant slalom and slalom specialists look forward to the races in Adelboden and the steep slope of the "Chuenisbärgli", one of the world's most challenging giant slalom courses. The Lauberhorn descents, which have been held in mid-January at Wengen in the Bernese Oberland since 1930, are the highlight of the men's World Cup season. The 4,455-meter-long Lauberhorn is not only the longest downhill run in the world, but also the fastest, with racers clocking an estimated 160 km/hour, or around 2 minutes and 30 seconds to reach the bottom of one of the world's most technical slopes. Finally, let's not forget the classic stops on the women's calendar, with competitions in Saint-Moritz in December and Crans-Montana in February.
