CONFISERIE ZURCHER

CONFISERIE ZURCHER

Confectionery
Closed - Opens in 32 minutes

The famous Zurcher house has been in existence since 1879. This great Montreux chocolatier opens his store and refined Belle Époque tea room to us. Muffled space and deep carpet, top-of-the-range chocolates and pastries. Three breakfast formulas to satisfy all appetites, good food for lunch and gourmet treats for the afternoons. We recommend grandfather's homemade recipes: hot chocolate and cold tea. The friendly Anne, who runs the place, is the fifth generation of the family.

For a Dolce Vita-style break and a taste of Italian coffee in the Market Square, Al Mercato is the place to be. The menu offers tempting salads and homemade pastas , to be enjoyed on the spot or to take away. The place is peaceful, welcoming and the products are very fresh. The smells and flavours project us into a Mediterranean atmosphere and awaken our taste buds. The salads are always very tasty. In the summer, the terrace promises good times and beautiful starry evenings with an Italian wine.

Charming, gourmet address in the city center on the lake side. After a career as an asset manager, Catherine Celotti turned her hobby into a profession, transforming her father's former antique store into a cookie factory: macaroons, cookies, shortbread and gingerbread fill her glass jars, all prepared with organic products, no coloring, no preservatives and very little sugar. You can even sit down for a cup of tea and try one of her ice creams. Homemade jams and syrups too, with hand-picked flowers and fruit.

We like this atmosphere of proximity and the smell of pastries. A pastry shop that is always busy during lunch time! The proof that this charming couple knew how to offer good products to the inhabitants of the district who hasten to come to seek their bread, their brioche or a small softness to be tasted. Here, the products are worked in a traditional way, the pastries are made with butter with a speciality, the Royal (hazelnut crunch - chocolate mousse).

Ah, the pleasure of strolling among the florists, refiners cheesemakers, butchers butchers, bakers and'of Rive de Rive! More than merchants are gathered here. A special atmosphere emerges from this covered market created in 1877, perhaps because these are the only real places in Geneva where all these professionals of good fortune coexist in the right mood. It comes to product quality and plenty of choice. Rare products as everyday products, Swiss specialities as a culinary delights come together here. Local cheeses, double cream, dried meat, longeoles, seafood, fresh fish, foie gras, complete bread, fresh pasta, Lebanese pastry or Chinese noodles, all make sense. Prices are high, but the quality of the products is first order. Don't forget to stop at the P'tit bistro in the centre to take a coffee, a glass of white or one of their good dishes.

A well-known local cheesemaker, Christian Willen sells his products at the Riponne market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Under the blue-and-white striped awning, you'll find nothing but homemade products, with specialties in Gruyère and semi-hard cheeses. These include etivaz and sheep's milk cheeses, as well as a few French classics. The Ticino tomme is excellent. Next door to Willen on the square, another affineur, Jacques Duttweiler, one of the most sought-after cheesemakers among chefs, offers a caramelized Gruyère that has even been "patented".

A choice setting for this master chocolate maker of Breton origin, always very inspired, who is already established in Carouge, but also in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, in Paris. You will find at this address the whole range of Philippe Pascoët's chocolates, ganaches and pralines, but also his bars and break chocolates. His specialties are numerous, such as ganaches with verbena or mint flavors, or melt-in-the-mouth softness. Chocolate is an art that he awakens with creativity and modernity. MARCHÉ AUX PUCES

Market

In the seemingly unchanging setting of the Place de Saint-Jean, the faded facades lend an antique tone to this flea market. The flea market is held every first Saturday of the month, from April to November. On site, some fifty dealers unveil their latest finds. Among the items on display are small antiques, crockery, paintings, antique furniture, old fabrics and books. It's always very interesting, as some of these very rural objects are part of Switzerland's heritage.

Gluttony cannot be a defect! It's simple, early in the morning, there is a queue for the fresh and appetizing pastries. Chocolate breads are enjoyed - the Petit Futé often indulges - along with the countless pastries and famous butter croissants. On site, the choice is vast in sweet and salted delicacies, and breads of all kinds, and at any time of the day you can come and dine with sandwiches, quiches, salads… The Montchoisy shop is very popular, with regulars. And in order to pamper yourself with finesse, the team of confectioners charm you with their little sweets, pralines and chocolates! Some specialties such as the caramel tiles and San Marco (egg cream base and caramelized with iron).

BLONDEL

Chocolatier

In the land of chocolate, Blondel's bonbons, pastilles, chocolates and pralines are a benchmark. Established since 1895 in the Rue de Bourg, its striking vintage frontage is a reminder that this is the oldest chocolate shop in Lausanne. It's a meeting place for gourmands. The winter mixes for hot chocolate are delicious. We also recommend you choose from among the many chocolates au marteau. The queue is long during the festive season! The chocolate bunnies are particularly cute.

LA CHOCOLATERIE DE GENÈVE

Chocolatier

It is the temple of greediness on 100m2 dedicated to chocolate, which presents the best Swiss brands: Paganel, Favarger. The best part is that it is possible to taste chocolate and make your choice. Not forgetting the chocolate watch "Choco Watch". Our favorite goes to the ice creams and sorbets to go signed Le Bougainvillier, a Swiss artisanal brand. Pistachio, coconut, Gruyère meringue, filbert, Williams pear, raspberry... and the famous Häagen-Dazs.

Dominique and Carole Ryser are a reference in Geneva for cheese lovers, who have been finding them in their shop based in the Halle de Rive for more than 15 years. 300 references, a partnership with Hervé Mons, 6 different Roqueforts, a complete collection of raclette cheeses for all tastes (really all!) from Fey, Nandaz, Conches and Bagnes among others, and the famous "Bruand" raclette made in Saanen and matured in Gruyère (Fribourg) and local charcuterie. A second sign is located on the road to France (about 7 kilometres from Geneva in the direction of Thonon). Sharing a tasty cheese means combining conviviality and greediness. DOMAINE DE LA PRINTANIÈRE

Winery

This wine cellar is easily identified with its rose cow right in front, when you pass on the edge of the Rhone, on the edge of the right bank and the left bank in the town of Avully. The estate is run by Céline & Laurent Dugerdil, Frédérik Serdaly (Céline's companion) and their cultivation head José Vasquez. The know-how of the vine has been continuing for generations. Their production covers three communes: Avully, Dardagny and Choully. They cultivate thirteen grape varieties there, in an environmentally friendly way (integrated production). In recent years, their philosophy has joined the school of biodynamy, and they apply it on some of their plots. Their menu is therefore very rich, with names as varied as the traditional monocépages (chasselas, white, grey, black, pinots, gamay, Merlot…), but also blends with names as nice as the "Sybillus", the "Rassembleur", the "Camerlot", and even the "Gridou" (sweet wine) and the "Barjak" (sparkling). A beautiful team, beautiful projects.
