One eats there with the fingers and all in the same plate, which remains to be avoided for the first meetings of lovers but proves to be of a great conviviality between friends. Only two dishes are offered, a vegetarian dish (lentils, salad, spinach) and beef kulwa served with its garnish on a large galette. The quality is surely better than in many of the more sought-after restaurants.

Read moreIn a small grocery store on the rue de Carouge is a modest but friendly Eritrean and Ethiopian restaurant. You can eat chicken(doro), lamb(kulwa) or beef(zigni) on the traditional patty,injera. The meat portions are a bit small, but the prices are low and the sauces are absolutely delicious. There is also the possibility of eating vegetarian: mashed lentils with spices(birsin), mixed vegetables with potatoes(alicha) or mashed yellow peas with paprika(shiro).
NYALA BARKA

All kinds of meat dishes are offered, arranged on theinjera, the traditional leavened cake. They are accompanied by lentils and vegetables of several types: spinach, fresh salad, carrots and spiced potatoes. The gored gored, an Ethiopian speciality, beef marinated in whisky and cognac is absolutely delicious, the beef tartare a little spicy.
