This is Pointe-Noire's very first museum, inaugurated at the end of 2018. The Art Deco building, steeped in history, had been abandoned since the late 90s, having housed various circles, a court of justice, a political headquarters, and finally a goods depot. The museum houses a fine collection of masks and statuettes, mainly from the Vili ethnic group, donated by Luca Cosentino, former CEO of oil company Eni Congo. Nestled in the N'gol Odoua forest, this museum is dedicated to the kiebe-kiebe initiation dance, endemic to the Congo. Over 150 exhibits reveal the evolution of this ancestral ceremony, still practiced in the Plateaux, Cuvette and Cuvette-Ouest regions. Along the way, you can see kiebe-kiebe statuettes, musical instruments and various objects linked to the sacred rite, as well as more modern works from the collection of the president, whose native village, Édou, is just a stone's throw away.
