Practical information : Sightseeing Congo Brazzaville
Timetable
As far as the administration is concerned, even if on paper they are open for a few hours in the afternoon, in reality, it's better to undertake your important formalities in the morning. Nowadays, most businesses work all day, either in continuous shifts ending around 2pm, or with a long break between 12pm and 3pm. Most shops close between 6 and 7 p.m., although many small street stalls close much later. As for restaurants, many of them offer continuous service, sometimes as early as 8am and often well into the night.
To be booked
If you wish to visit the national parks and reserves, it is essential to organize your stay in advance with the relevant organizations.
Main events
Numerous festivals are held throughout the year, especially in the capital. As the country is home to many different ethnic groups, many festivities, such as initiation rites, take place in towns and villages. Most of the time, they are not scheduled in the calendar and are improvised according to life's events (marriage, death, puberty...).
Guided tours
There are a number of incoming agencies based in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire, most of which are listed in our guide.
Smokers
Smoking is not allowed inside bars, restaurants and hotels, but you can enjoy a cigarette on the terrace.
