What to visit Ivory Coast?
Interview: My Ivory Coast
By Camille Griffoulières, author of the guide
Journalist reporter, graduate of the IPJ and author for the Petit Futé for many years, Camille Griffoulières likes to explore little-known countries, to guide visitors in search of adventure, far from mass tourism. In Côte d'Ivoire, she likes to get lost in the bush villages to attend animist ceremonies as well as to get drunk in the trendy bars of Abidjan

Timetable
Generally speaking, in Africa and Côte d'Ivoire, daily life begins at the first light of dawn. In large cities, due to transport, shops open and close a little later than in medium-sized towns. For shops, opening and closing hours are approximately as follows: between 7:30 and 9 am in the morning, between 5 pm and 7 pm in the evening, some shops such as supermarkets remain open until 8 pm and beyond. Banks generally operate during the day (8am to 2pm or 3pm), and most services and administrations close around 4pm. An Ivorian or expatriate worker's day usually ends between 5 and 6 pm.
To be booked
It is necessary to book and organize your expedition to go to the Taï Forest National Park. For the Banco National Park, it is organization at the entrance directly. For the rest, the best is to have a local guide who will think to call the people in charge of the small local museums to be sure they are open (because not much visited except Yamoussoukro and Grand-Bassam). The other parks and reserves are not easily accessible, not very well prepared for tourism
Budget & Tips
The visits are generally not very expensive, it is the guide who will cost more, but the lack of indications and information makes his presence often indispensable, if not interesting. We therefore recommend local guides.
What's very local
The traditional cultural ceremonies in the interior of the country, especially in the north, west and east, are obviously festivals that you should try to go to, organize your stay well in advance with guides to have the chance to attend. First of all the tradition of poro and mask dances in Sénoufo, Baoulé or Yacouba country.
