Located about 40 km east of Grand-Lahou, Azagny National Park covers about 22,000 hectares. Straddling two departments (Grand-Lahou to the west and Jacqueville to the east), it is bounded to the west by the Bandama River, to the north by the Côtière and to the south by the Azagny Canal and/or the lagoon. A magnificent territory of water, forest and savannah that is virtually untouched, the site is home to many rare and vulnerable mammals that have benefited from the natural protection of the swamps. However, it has suffered somewhat in the north from agricultural encroachment and in its other parts from poaching, illegal fishing, and fuelwood cutting. To preserve it, it was established on April 2, 1981, as a national park and became in 1996 the first Ivorian area to be classified as a Ramsar site (wetland of international importance) In the vicinity of the park, the village of Boyo (south-east) offers a magnificent panorama over the lagoon and the south of the park up to the mouth of the Bandama, while in the village of Nandibo 2 (north, on the coast), you can take a break over a drink or a meal
