Right bank, departure from Thionville. Follow the canal as far as Yutz, then follow the river through its loop. From Basse-Ham, you reach Koenigsmacker.

Left bank, departure from Manom. But you can also reach the banks at Thionville, below the town hall. This paved road links Manom to Remich in Luxembourg for just over 50 km.

Rive et coeur de ville en fête: an event not to be missed during the summer months (July-August). It's organized by the city of Thionville, and the festive atmosphere is guaranteed! On the riverbanks, it's time for festivities and relaxation. On Thionville's quaysides, the little booths are packed with drinks, ice creams and other delicacies. Children can enjoy a range of fun and sporting activities. As for the lazier ones, they can simply settle down with a book on the deckchairs set up for the occasion. But be warned: it'll be harder to get back on the bike afterwards!

All those who love the little queen naturally head for this meeting point - in agreement with the one in Orléans on the Quai Cypierre - which links up with the signposted route along the royal river. The same goes for walks in France's largest state-owned forest, Orléans, as well as in the Sologne and Loir valleys... An audacious route for those with stamina: Orléans - Montargis - Châtillon-sur-Loire - Orléans, the nec plus ultra of Loirétains circuits.

The Pays de Sault, a green vacation resort, boasts over 160 km of mountain bike trails and over 260 km of hiking trails, listed on maps and topo-guides distributed by the tourist office. All in all, you can look forward to some great walks through oak and pine forests, lavender and spelt fields. At the tourist office, you'll also find a cyclo-guide with 9 cycling circuits starting from Sault, including 66 km through the Gorges de la Nesque and 33 km through the Plateau d'Albion.

Discover the trike, this three-wheeled bike that can be ridden lying down. The appointment is made at the Fort-Louis park in Coudekerque-Branche. There, you are at the doors of one to three hours of a ride according to the chosen formula. The one of 3 hours will allow you to join Bergues through the wood of the Forts. only 300 meters of tarmac, after that there are small paths. About ten minutes will be necessary for you to take in hand your trike after a small playful and educational sequence. Then you will be free to discover the Dunkerque countryside!

Café-cycliste, a category we didn't include in our guide! In the old Duingt railway station, along the cycle path that circles the lake, it's impossible to miss Le Bon Wagon. A multi-faceted venue with one common denominator: bicycles. Discover fabulous landscapes by renting an electric bike in Corte! There are several routes of varying distances and durations, including the Village Loop, which is 40 or 65 kilometers long. The 15-kilometer route along the Restonica, with its beautiful Melo and Capitello lakes, forest, clear water and wind in your hair, is also very popular. Created in Lyon in 2005, this service for bicycles is a lyon pride since it was the first of its kind in France! Developed in collaboration with the JC Decaux company, it covers, Lyon Villeurbanne, Vaux-en-Velin, Caluire-et-Cuire and Vénissieux, and is available every day without interruption. In the state of having more than 14 years, several systems rentals are available: in the year (from £13 to €25 the subscription), for a week (€5) or for a day (€1.50). The first thirty minutes are always available and the maximum length of rental is 12 hours. LPA subscribers, Autolib, QPark, Vinci and Effia, enjoy free the first time. In case of a problem with bike or station, just call the unique number and the location is always quickly regulated.

The bicycle path between Saint-Dizier and the Lac du Der, 12 km long, is open on the side path of the canal that brings water from the Marne to the lake. This route has the advantage of being entirely paved, flat and with a panoramic view of the landscapes surrounding the lake and the timber-framed houses. For those who love long walks, you can continue your journey by the 38 km long "voie verte" of the Lac du Der. Rest areas punctuate this route accessible to families.

The Eurovéloroute3 (or Scandibérique) is the successor to the Green Axis. Inaugurated in June 2014, the circuit is a delight for cyclists and riders alike. The Eurovéloroute3 is a tremendous accelerator for the development of tourism in Thiérache and is part of a desire to open up to Europe. This road crosses the department of Aisne, between Hirson and Quierzy, over a length of 109 kilometres. On a wider scale, the route extends from Trondheim (Norway) to Santiago de Compostela (Spain), over more than 3,000 kilometres. Here, you will be in total communion with nature, in the heart of the bocage, following the course of the Oise river. A green lung to be widely frequented!

Located near the heart of Aurec-sur-Loire, on the banks of the Loire River, on a sunny and shady park, the site has a remarkable natural environment spanning many hectares. Classified NATURA 2000, this space for all, with many facilities, offers in addition to a sandy beach, multiple activities! The Respirando Area is accessible for persons with reduced mobility. For bathing, hippocampus chairs are at your disposal.

Saddle up! From Nevers in central France to Paimboeuf in Loire-Atlantique, the "Loire à Vélo" route offers almost 800 kilometers of signposted itinerary. This journey links the beginnings of the royal river to its mouth on the Atlantic coast. The route, full of unmissable, unusual and little-known places, is a real encounter with yourself and others. At your own pace, with family, friends or on your own, hundreds of establishments welcome you along this magnificent and fascinating route. In Maine-et-Loire, the Loire à Vélo runs from Montsoreau (on the Indre-et-Loire border) to Champtoceaux. The route crosses the département from end to end, combining cycle paths and little-traveled back roads. There are two routes through Angers: the first through the city, where you share the road with other vehicles, or the second through the south (via Trélazé and Les Ponts-de-Cé), where you can enjoy the tranquility of the outlying communes and their lush green landscapes. After Angers, on the way to the Atlantic, you'll have the opportunity to discover Savennières and its enchanting landscapes, or the island of Béhuard and its open-air church, both classified as "Petite cité de caractère". Want to live a unique experience and get your adrenaline flowing? Treat yourself to a first ride on the inclined track of the Stab, the covered regional velodrome of Roubaix. Inclined at 44.3°, this track promises you real thrills! No need to come equipped, all the equipment is provided on site (bike, shoes, helmets and gloves). The velodrome also organizes discovery sessions of cycling on track open to all, even to the little ones. A really nice activity to do with family or friends. Moreover, the velodrome opens its track to more experienced cyclists, licensed or not, who want to exercise in a unique place. But the Stab is not only a cycling track, it also has badminton courts, weight rooms and even a BMX track managed by the Vélo Club de Roubaix. A temple of leisure sports, the Stab also hosts many prestigious competitions. It thus hosted the track cycling championships in September 2017. It's very simple: by following the rails of the T3 tramway in its entirety, you absolutely cannot go wrong! This valley is a delight for mountain bikers and cyclists of all kinds. Taking the Dolce Via is like rediscovering the old railroad line, disused since 1968, from Saint-Agrève to Saint-Laurent-du-Pape, and allows you to pedal in complete peace and quiet through wild landscapes. The Dolce Via is a 55-kilometre stretch of safe, gentle path through unspoilt countryside. On foot, mountain bike or horseback, come and enjoy a family outing. And all along the way, campsites and farmhouses offer rest and refreshment.

The Tourist Office and the association Torreilles Vivre le sport have created routes to discover the village and its surroundings. Wild coastline, typical streets of Old Torreilles and highlights of its cultural heritage: Naturavélo offers three circuits of 9 km, 14 km or 20 km, considered easy and ideal for family walks. You can reach Le Barcarès, Sainte-Marie, Rivesaltes and even Perpignan. You will discover raw landscapes with the Catalan Pyrenees and the mythical Canigó as a backdrop.

A chairlift ride out of winter season, to enjoy an extraordinary panorama at the top. Departure towards the High Plateaux of Vercors, you can go back down on foot by a hiking trail, or else: go up by chairlift with your mountain bike and ride down the slopes on the pedals. Be careful to protect yourself with at least a helmet. It is also possible to rent a Trottin'herbe at the foot of the slopes where helmets are provided. And off you go for a really fun descent. The Layon and Aubance hillsides, famous for their sweet wines, are a delight for two-wheelers. 13 circuits are listed according to their level of difficulty. Here, routes for all levels (blue, red, green) will take you through the many vineyards of the area to discover where it is good to taste the local wines, with moderation if you have to get back on your bike..

The circuit from Beaulieu-sur-Layon to Bonnezeaux, with a difference in altitude of more than 300 m and 38 km, promises strong sensations, doubled with aesthetic joys.

Calling all cyclists and bike enthusiasts: the Vel'Oxygène association is opening its Maison du vélo! The atmosphere is one of conviviality in this place of exchange, information and sharing, where two-wheeled enthusiasts come together to share the same passion. Leave the car behind and take your bike out for a spin to discover the many activities on offer. The association offers self-repair workshops where you can learn how to maintain and repair your bike yourself, a bike school for beginners, film screenings, conferences and a host of other cycling-related cultural events. And for a friendly get-together with other cyclists, bike rides and apéro-vélo events are organized on a regular basis.

This 9 kilometer route between Chariez and Mont-le-Vernois allows you to pedal at your own pace on an old railroad. You will discover surprising landscapes and even cross a three hundred year old oak tree! The " Bike-Rails " can accommodate 4 or 5 passengers each. Some " Bike Rails ", including one with solar energy, are equipped to accommodate a person with reduced mobility in a wheelchair. All of them have a large platform to put a baby seat or luggage. In the Pré-la-Joux area of the Portes du Soleil, you'll find a mountain paradise dedicated to downhill mountain bike enthusiasts. Open all summer long, this area offers access to 6 exceptional zones, 5 of which are accessible via the Blues & Rock green trail. With a total of 20 trails, including 3 green and 4 blue runs, as well as numerous variants, there's something for everyone. Châtel's DH runs are distinguished by their extreme technicality.

The Monts de Guéret circuits offer a multitude of options, suitable for everyone, whether you're on your own or with the family. Whether you're a novice or an expert, you can venture out on almost 700 kilometers of trails, take 27 marked circuits ranging from 8 to 140 kilometers in length, explore 2 downhill trails, test yourself on a four-cross course and explore 4 trials zones. Beginners can experience their first sensations on initiation trails.

In the Queyras, opportunities for exploration abound, but a good level of fitness is essential due to the significant differences in altitude. This guide features itinerary sheets at different levels, with detailed descriptions. For mountain bikers, the Saint-Véran and Col d'Izoard climbs are exciting challenges.

Mountain biking is the trendy sport that replaces winter skiing on the steep slopes in the summer. You will be able to exercise while enjoying the fresh air and the beautiful landscapes of the resort which blossoms in the beautiful days. The terrain of Montgenèvre is mostly suitable for this and the ski lifts play the game, with a gondola for example. Recognized as a mountain bike site by the French Cycling Federation, the Pays des Écrins offers 200 km of marked trails, with no fewer than 15 circuits suitable for all levels, whether you're a beginner or an experienced rider. These varied routes, some with higher levels of difficulty, offer access to exceptional natural sites. Among the options on offer, the Vallouise "trans-territoire" offers a 36 km loop starting from Argentière, passing through Ailefroide, with a brown grading.

In Compreignac, Les Chabannes offers a multi-activity outdoor base. The Base VTT et cyclo des monts de la Madeleine is located on the Verrerie plateau, at an altitude of 1,000 metres. Here you'll find mountain bike and helmet rental, a garage and a workshop for minor repairs. The area offers various types of accommodation, a takeaway inn, a swimming pool, mini-golf and playgrounds. Numerous marked trails are available for skiing, snowshoeing, hiking and horseback riding.

Created in 1994 as part of the French Cycling Federation (FFCT), Cyclo Club Mendois aims to promote cycling tourism. Outings are organized on Lozère roads on Saturday afternoons and weekdays (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays). The club also offers a number of pleasant rides. The club was behind the creation of the Lozère tour, which covers 600 km and 9,600 m of ascent in 6 stages. Since June 2021, this former railway line that crosses the South Touraine has been transformed into a greenway. Between Descartes and Preuilly-sur-Claise, the first 26 kilometres are already open. Eventually, 42 kilometers will lead us to the gates of the Regional Natural Park of the Brenne. Opening planned for the summer of 2022. In the meantime, this route already has many surprises in store for you. Starting with its starting town. The city of Descartes, birthplace of the famous philosopher, welcomes you with its museum, but also in a bucolic botanical garden. We take the pedals and the handlebars towards Abilly and its mill. Then the Grand-Pressigny and its gallery of creators installed in the old station. Don't miss the Museum of Prehistory, perched on the hill. From its terrace, you will find a magnificent view of the whole valley. The journey continues: Etableau and the ruins of the castle, the Chaumussay dam and the Saint-Marc fountain, the Romanesque church of Saint-Médard... Finally, Preuilly-sur-Claise in sight! This medieval town is worth a visit! In the middle of the narrow streets and old houses stands the Saint-Pierre abbey, a jewel of Romanesque art.

Velocity claims mobility with ease. It was born out of the Velorution movement in the fall of 2005, at a time when some motorists thought it wasn't good enough to ride a bike. Montpellier has thus joined the club of "velorutionary" cities. Velorutions are cycling events with a festive characteristics. The aim is to promote cycling, to gather and defend bicycle users, to improve the safety of cyclists and to live in more humane, more breathable cities. The association promotes citizen and ecological action. The veloruptions are held monthly, normally on the first Saturday of the month, departing from Place de la Comedy for a short bike ride, but also on a unicycle, roller skates, in tow (drawn by a bicycle)... Vélocity seeks to make cycling known through this movement, while enjoying a car-free city island in a friendly atmosphere.

Starting from Santenay, this 80 km route was built on the old railway tracks and towpaths. Ideal for cyclists, it has a tarred surface and allows, from Santenay, to connect with Chalon-sur-Saône (22 km) by following the Canal du Centre. A magnificent, invigorating ride, rich in encounters! All along the way, you will come across pleasure boats, locks, vineyards... For the most courageous, the green way continues its way to Givry, Cluny, Charnay-lès-Mâcon.

Would you like to explore the Eure? The former Évreux-Honfleur railroad line has been transformed into a signposted and equipped itinerary that allows walkers - with or without baby carriages - cyclists, and skaters to cohabit. The Voie Verte links Saint-Georges-Motel to Bueil over a distance of some twenty kilometers. Take advantage of the picnic areas for gourmet breaks with a view! And don't forget to visit the traditional villages along the way.

The Comité Régional de Bretagne de Cyclisme is an organization that promotes cycling and cycle tourism in Brittany. They offer various disciplines and events for cycling enthusiasts. They also have an area reserved for members and clubs.

Valérie has a state certificate in mountain bike and bicycle tours in the Pilat region.
