Day 1: En route for Le Grand Train Tour

Nowhere else in Europe is the train used as often as in Switzerland. Arm yourself with your Swiss Travel Pass and embark on an 8-day Grand Train Tour of Switzerland. In 2015, Swiss Travel System launched the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland, which combines eight distinct routes in a single package, covering some 1,280 km of Switzerland's main attractions.

Day 2: Geneva to Zermatt

Steps: Montreux, Lavaux

On the way to breathtaking panoramic views! From Geneva's Cornavin station, we take the SBB train to Zurich, passing through the Lavaux vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and admire the French Pre-Alps from the Vaud Riviera. The Château de Chillon catches our eye, resting delicately on its rocky spur at the end of Lake Geneva.

Places of interest :
CHÂTEAU DE CHILLON

Day 3: Zermatt, Gornergrat and the Glacier Express

Steps: Coire - Chur, Zermatt

You'll have a close-up view of the highest peaks, and not the least of them... Zermatt, with its picturesque streets, invites you for a goat walk or a day of high-altitude shopping! Climb the Gornergrat, Europe's highest open-air cogwheel railroad, to gaze at glaciers and the iconic Matterhorn. At 36 km/h, the panoramic Glacier Express train takes you to Chur.

Day 4: Chur, Heidiland, St. Gallen

Steps: Saint-Gall

After crossing impressive viaducts, Chur invites you to taste the "capuns", chard leaves wrapped around spätzle, and discover its history as Switzerland's oldest town. An escape into the countryside takes you to Heidi's village in Maienfeld, where you can relive the moving story of this little mountain girl. From here, you can reach St. Gallen via the green plains.

Day 5: St. Gallen, Zurich

Steps: Zurich, Saint-Gall

An architectural gem on Lake Constance, whose jewel is the Collegiate Library , a UNESCO World Heritage Site, St. Gallen is enchanting! By boat or train, let the scent of chocolate guide you to Kilchberg to visit the gourmet Lindt Museum. Join the bustling city of Zurich for a lively evening in the Old Town.

Day 6: Zurich and Lucern-Interlaken Express

Steps: Lucerne, Zurich

Switzerland's first lady by population, Zurich, with its museums, sundial and luxury boutiques, is a city to be savored thanks to the quality of its tourist attractions. After stocking up on souvenirs, take the Lucern-Interlaken Express to Lucerne. The rolling landscape is interrupted by crystal-clear lakes. Cross the Chapelle Bridge and explore the historic town.

Day 7: Interlaken, Thun

Steps: Thun, Interlaken

From Lucerne, it's a short hop from Puce to Interlaken, by boat or train. Paragliders color the skies over Interlaken, and the panoramic Jungfrauhoch train will take you to the eternal snows of the Eiger on a sensational journey. Join Thun for a visit to its castle and a cruise on its tranquil lake.

Day 8: Thun, Golden Pass Panoramic, Montreux and Geneva

Steps: Montreux

From Thun, the Golden Pass Panoramic crosses the Swiss meadows to reach the shores of Lake Geneva. It wanders between valleys and vineyards to slow down in front of the calm waters of the lake. Montreux, with its riviera, its palm trees and its statue of Freddie Mercury, deserves a nice walk before reaching Geneva.
