Created in 1981, this museum covers the pre-Hispanic period until today. It discovers interesting palaeontological and archaeological exhibits. Since its creation, the museum has participated in numerous investigative works in the area of Cumaná, mainly towards the cerro de caiguire where futt discovered an animal fossil of mégathérium (long tail toothless mammals) dating from Pleistocene (the third time of the néogène system which covers most of the recent glaciations, i. e. 15 000 years). Although it has a name from the Caribbean Indians, this beach has nothing to threaten. On the contrary, you can easily fall under the charm of these two bays separated by a small piece of sand, immersed at high tide. The sand is partly black, it comes from the sand pulled by a small freshwater river coming from the mountain. Probably the most beautiful of the area's beaches.
