The Little Smart had the honour to participate in the working seminar, organised from 4 to 6 October last, at the heart of the International White Truffle Fair in Alba, Piedmont, Italy. Thank you for the invitation and congratulations to the whole team of Laurent Pericat, Director of the Maison de la Truffe d'Aups et du Verdon, to the team of the Office de tourisme intercommunal Lacs et Gorges du Verdon based in Aups.

A fair in a velvet setting, the perfect balance between actors and products, 16 experimental days. A few figures: 300,000 confirmed overnight stays, 6 to 7 million euros on the direct sale of white truffles, 50 million euros in economic benefits; the Italian diamond is not only a raw material, it is a tourist material! Objective: The experience around the White Truffle is rooted in developing sensitivity to taste. Bluffing!

A shocked Var delegation: expert in tourism products, dowser and truffle producer, winegrower, director and tourism assistants, journalists; our diverse skills have combined to consider a continuation. The city of Aups has convinced the Director of Tourism of the Langhe region, Monferrato, Roerola, and the Director of the fair Stefano Mosca, of the importance of a Verdon/Piedmont alliance; projects on the Var are currently being analysed at La Maison de la Truffe d'Aups.

Developing know-how and excellence around events, strengthening local, national and international alliances, these are serious areas of work that Laurent Pericat and his team are exploring.
