NOTRE-DAME DE L'ASSOMPTION CHURCH
Read moreA magnificent neo-Gothic building, this church was built by architect François Bougouin between 1898-1900. In order to enhance it and protect it from any changes, it has been registered under Historical Monuments since 2007. Its organ is also classified as well as the magnificent stained glass windows dating back to 1924. Like the Saint-Sauveur Chapel, it has been partially damaged and has benefited from extensive rehabilitation work that ended in 2003.

It houses, the largest painted ensemble of the Gothic era of the Loire-Atlantique. The bright windows of the southern facade with windows lime suggest that its construction would take place at the beginning of the th century. Like the paintings using the wet process - hot glue paint, carried out on a dry background - in use in the Middle Ages. NOTRE-DAME-DE-PITIÉ CHAPEL OR CHAPEL CHARETTE

The laying of the first stone took place in 1825 by the daughter of Louis XVI represented by Mrs. Charette de la Contrie. BASILIQUE SAINT NICOLAS
Read moreNestled between Place Royale and Rue du Calvaire, Saint-Nicolas stands massive and carved in a neo-Gothic style. The building was built three times between 1844 and 1869 by the architects Jean-Baptiste Lassus, Henri-Théodore Driollet and Gustave de Bourgerel, the church became a basilica on 28 October 1882 and was classified as a historic monument in 1986, major restoration work was undertaken. The esplanade, completely renovated in 2017, is a pleasant place to pass between terraces and small shops. 86 metres long, 32 metres wide, 24 metres high under the vaults, an arrow piercing the sky at 100 metres, the monument proudly stands out in the landscape. Smart tip: on the Good Shepherd's terrace, the view is unique on one side of the façade and its pretty rosettes.
