Self-help associations for seniors Loire-Atlantique

Opened in 1995 at the initiative of the City of Nantes and professionals in the home support of the public, voluntary and liberal sectors, Nantes Around'age is a place of reception, listening, information, advice, guidance on home services and home care facilities. This free service, managed by the Municipal Centre for Social Action (CCAS) of the City of Nantes, consists in finding solutions of comfort and quality of life for older people, directing them to the appropriate structures.

David & Jonathan is a Christian LGBTI+ association based in Nantes. Founded in 1972, it offers a space for sharing, commitment and self-building for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT+) people, whether Christian or on a spiritual quest. The association is characterized by its ecumenical and militant dimension, in dialogue with churches and faith communities. It has several local groups in over 20 major French cities, and regularly organizes projects on cross-cutting themes. The Most Beautiful Girls troupe organizes a burlesque and transformiste journal each year for the benefit of associations fighting AIDS. The girls they parodient are known to the general public and have for name Sylvie Vartan, Dalida but also for younger Björk, Lorie and even Beyoncé! An association with great heart and humor. This association fights for homoparentalité and advocates equal rights. It places special emphasis on children of homoparentales families by offering them a place of reception and listening, to support them and better defend them against discrimination. Through his calls for donations, she also financially assists some couples who are involved in legal proceedings.

Nantes antenna of this LGBT association which organizes mountain biking trips to Tours and beyond, the time of one day or a weekend. A travelling week is also planned between La Rochelle and Royan along the Atlantic coast.

Since 1997, the CLGBT has been a user friendly place to meet the needs of dialogue, information, medical prevention and cultural life. Listening is possible by telephone or at the premises during the opening hours. An appointment is also possible. The centre hosts several local associations, fights all forms of LGBT-phobia, and aims to give more visibility to Homo, queer and transgendered minorities. Finally, the Centre organises the Gay Pride of Nantes.
