The Contraband Festival is an event that attracts tens of thousands of people from both sides of the border.

The Festival of Smuggling will return in March 2023, in its normal version, that is, with a floating bridge that will allow to cross the Guadiana on foot between Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana, according to the mayor of Alcoutim. This three-day event attracts tens of thousands of people from both sides of the border in both border towns and is a nod to this historical practice related to the region.
