The best museums Lozère

A rallying point for the ecomuseum of Mount Lozere, the house of Mount Lozere is also the starting point. In this large modern building, a permanent exhibition tells the country's history, that of men and landscapes, through testimonies and antiques. Le Cri du Castor is an address unlike any other. A museum, workshop and boutique dedicated to the history of blue and the practice of indigo, the premises include a discovery area in the garden and an area for workshops. Upon reservation, visitors can try their hand at a number of artisanal techniques: vegetable dyeing, Japanese shibori, weaving, painting, etc. for a day or half-day (in summer only). The boutique also sells clothing, accessories and household linen, in indigo shades of course!

The Musée de la Filature des Calquières, also known as Monde de Filaine, is an industrial museum located in Langogne, in the department of Lozère. It houses unique machines dating back to 1850 that were used to work wool. Considered the oldest woolen mill in France, it offers visitors a fascinating insight into the history of the textile industry. The museum offers guided tours, as well as self-guided tours with a tour guide to accompany visitors through the structure, complete with sound effects, light shows and videos.
