Events calendar Lozère

The Association Sur le chemin de R.-L. Stevenson continues to walk this route to highlight the interest of the journey of the Scottish writer. Since 1994, the actors of tourism have come together and pooled their ideas and actions in order to better guide and welcome all those who visit the Cevennes following this route. In this spirit, was created, in spring, this event intended to allow the curious to look, during twenty days, the Cevennes of another eye: exhibitions, accompanied hikes, spectacles with interventions of Scottish and Cevennes artists, readings, visits with topic. Thus each year, the event takes place in a different sector of the area crossed by the famous author. 2018 will be a special year as it marks the 140th anniversary of his journey and the Association Sur le chemin de R.-L Stevenson is organizing a series of events throughout the year (See details in "Invitation to the journey").

The Salon du Vin in Mende puts Occitanie wines in the spotlight for two days in June. You'll be able to meet some thirty local winegrowers and producers, who'll be offering sales and tastings, and, as tradition dictates, the red wine competition will reward the best vintages! Numerous workshops and events will punctuate the weekend, including a chocolate workshop, a cheese and wine workshop, a tasting of the winning wines and a festive meal with live music... Lovers of wine and local produce have come to the right place!

Winter, cold, snow… If it discouraged you so far to continue your physical training, we have found two activities that should motivate you: cross-country skiing and snowshoes! Rather than taking the elements, is it not more pleasant to take the advantage?

In the heart of the Cevennes National Park, the Domaine du Mas de la Bateau offers 28 kilometres of Nordic ski slopes drawn in alternative and skating, as well as 3 routes of snowshoes. If you know the landscapes of Mount Lozere and the Cassini peak in summer, discover them under their great white coat, you can only be seduced…

Tariff: cross-country skiing: from 9 € half day and € 11 per day per adult; 7 € half day and € 9 per day for those under 17; snowshoes: free.

Distance: cross-country skiing: from 2,3 km to 10,2 km; snowshoes: from 0,8 km to 6,5 km.

Difficulty: very easy (green) to difficult (red).

Special provisions: if you leave solo, we recommend that you warn the gendarmerie before your departure, specifying your itinerary.

Located in the great site of the Gorges du Tarn and Jonte, in the heart of the National park of Cevennes and at the foot of Mount Aigoual, the village of Nicely enjoys an exceptional location for outdoor sports enthusiasts. Hiking, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata or mountain biking; the municipality has something to seduce a broad public! But before embarking on these activities, we invite you through this walk to discover the heritage of the village. Take the Rue du Temple, cross the St. Peter Square, take a hike on Saint-Blaise street, mark the stop in front of the monument to the dead, visit Notre-Dame-du-Rocher Chapel and cross the porch of the Priory: within 3 kilometres of walking, the municipality will have no secrets for you… or almost!

What an original party! At the end of October, Les Gens de la Soupe invite you to come and celebrate soups and broths, because "a feast warms the heart, a soup warms the body". The festival features a wide range of events, including collective peeling, soup making and tasting, bowl sales, soup hikes, lectures, film screenings, a farmers' market, soup competitions, "apérisoupe", a traditional dance and concerts... During the weekend, you can even take part in the soup perch: climb a tree (in complete safety!) and enjoy your soup from high up!

The Paroles Gabales association and the FDSEA are organizing the Fête des Pâturages to give everyone a chance to discover the world of agriculture. Throughout the day, you'll be able to discover the animals of the Lozère farms and meet cows, calves, sheep, lambs, goats, horses, donkeys, rabbits... as well as enjoy demonstrations of local know-how (haymaking, sheep shearing, wood sawing, herd dog training...), traditional dances, an artisan farmers' market with beautiful local products and entertainment for children.

The transhumance is a traditional and convivial event, eagerly awaited by thousands of people every year. It's a celebration of the herds' ascent to the pastures and high plateaus for the summer, when the grass is more tender. If you'd like to make the most of this unique day, join us at 4:30 a.m. for a hike and an old-fashioned breakfast. Then welcome the herdsmen and their flocks to Mont Lozère and take part in the many traditional events!

Saint-Chély-d'Apcher holds its traditional annual festival at the beginning of August, in a friendly, family atmosphere. Join us at the Foirail for the funfair, and in the streets of the town for the many events on offer: concerts, inflatable games, giant table soccer, producers' "musette" dinner and traditional ball, vintage car exhibitions, soapbox raid, street parade, fireworks display... A sensational weekend!

During the Ascension weekend, in the streets and under big tops, the festival of street arts and contemporary music presents shows and concerts, with an eclectic, high-flying program. It's organized by the Rudeboy Crew association, who create breathtakingly creative sets every year, and who also animate the entire cultural season in the Haute Vallée d'Olt. With shows, fairground games and shared meals, the team has no shortage of ideas or dynamism to liven up the cultural life around Mont Lozère.
