229 On Main Café occupies the main room of the Old Capitol Theatre. We come here especially to discover the kitschy, old-fashioned decor, with a very pleasant atmosphere. A few tables, chairs and sofas are set amidst the old auditorium and impressive bric-a-brac. Meals are classic: hamburgers, fish & chips, sandwiches, wraps, cooked eggs... Excellent value for money. Musical entertainment is often provided by local artists.

We come here to enjoy the rooftop atmosphere and a superb terrace and garden with a unique view over King William Street and towards Victoria Square. But the food lives up to our expectations! The place is quite small, but we love its decoration with Superman's mannequin, thousands of bric-a-brac objects, pictures of customers, little succulents on the tables, and the chosen music... The burgers are excellent, as well as the pizzas and the numerous appetizing desserts. Many customers also come for take-away food. We recommend it for the food, the place, and the nicely offbeat atmosphere.

In the beautiful village of Mintaro, this vineyard boasts a bucolic, country-style restaurant that invites you to stop in. On the menu, starters include seafood and rabbit, followed by a selection of seasonal main courses, all of which are highly appetizing. Let yourself be tempted by a cheese platter before moving on to dessert, with its mouth-watering choices. The menu changes according to the produce available. And seasonal menus are matched to local wines.

Don't let the outside fool you, as you're walking into a Caltex gas station, but the room is nice and clean, the staff friendly and it's an excellent seafood restaurant. Live fish and oysters from Kangaroo Island. Everything is good and appetizing! We treat ourselves to fish & chips, perhaps one of the best on the island! In the evening, it's best to get there early, as it can easily get very crowded.
