Interpretation trail of the Baume des Fades

The departure is from the parking of La Taillade. Then take the direction of "Mas de Terris" by following the markers "Le Mas du Clap", "Le Grand Chêne", and "Chemin des Dolmens". Here, you can discover the interpretation trail of the Baume des Fades, but be careful, some passages are not passable by bike. So please leave your bikes at the entrance of the path! In the middle of the Natura 2000 area, take the time to walk the short 1.4 km circuit of the Baume des Fades interpretation trail. Developed around our 5 senses, this trail is a fun and educational way to discover the forest and its management in this remarkable area. In the company of the young fairy Sylvane and her fellow fairies the "Fades", mischievous little fairies who inhabit the garrigue, you will walk along the Méjannais plateau. 18 stations with explanatory panels highlight the presence of dolmens and megalithic stones filled with stories and legends; there, the fauna and flora of the garrigue with the Mediterranean pond; finally, the history of Man and the forest, whose symbiosis is necessary for the preservation and development of everyone. A wooden belvedere, the highlight of the trail, opens the view on the Gorges de la Cèze and the peaks of the Ardèche mountains.

To reach the "Mas de Terris", go through "Le Mouriou" and "Les Banquières".

Massif des Gorges de la Cèze, departmental sensitive natural area

With its 2800 ha, the Massif des Gorges de la Cèze is classified as a Sensitive Natural Area, one of the largest in France. The limestone rock reigns on all sides, leaving the garrigues to spread out as far as the eye can see, shaping the sinuous Gorges de la Cèze with the greatest harmony. Coming from Lozère, the Cèze insinuates itself into the Cévennes, winding its way to the Rhône. With remarkable biological and landscape values, the primary objective of the Cèze Gorges ENS is to preserve the quality of the panoramas and landscapes, the natural environments and the flood expansion fields, while ensuring the safeguarding of natural habitats. The challenge is also to add to these main missions the promotion of the site to the public. A natural and heritage jewel dotted with some of the most beautiful villages in France, the gorges are a haven of peace where calm and serenity reign. A natural site classified as Natura 2000, the Gorges de la Cèze are rich in wild and intense landscapes, a true sanctuary of biodiversity to be preserved.

Once at "Mas de Terris", follow the path along the Cèze to reach the Plage de Quittard.

The beaches

The pretty commune of Méjannes Le Clap has three river beaches on its territory. Three beaches that will delight young and old, lovers of calm and greenery, lovers of swimming and nature.
