Corconne, a village on the cliffside

Corconne, a picturesque little village nestled a few hundred yards from the Pic Saint-Loup, is a delight to the eye. Its stone houses from the 17th and 18th centuries are built in a staircase under the majestic cliffs and offer walkers a very poetic vision of the village. On the southern edge of the Contach massif, the village is dominated by a chapel: built in 1857, the chapel is located on a site that was most likely occupied in the 12th century by a citadel that allowed for the surveillance of the territory. Indeed, Corconne was then on a border zone between the possessions of Toulouse and Provence; the citadel probably housed an outpost garrison. From the square in front of this chapel, there is a breathtaking view of the Vaunage, the Pic Saint-Loup and the sea. Born in these grandiose landscapes where the rocks take on the appearance of timeless statues, Corconne's history is rooted in its traditions. Corconne is on the Mediterranean Olive Route and is one of the "French Olive-growing towns". Until 1914, two oil mills from the 17th century were still working on the territory of the commune. Nowadays, from the edge of the garrigues to the east of the village, olive trees punctuate the hillsides with their graceful silhouettes. Planted in Picholine, the olive groves of Corconne belong to the AOC Olives and Oils of Nimes. It is therefore quite natural that the Olive Festival is held every year on the second Sunday of December. It is an opportunity for the millers to present their oils to the various competitions, which are honoured by the presence of a chapter of the Confrérie des Chevaliers de l'Olivier du Languedoc-Roussillon. Animations, conferences, workshops and tastings punctuate this day entirely devoted to olive growing.

From the Cave coopérative de Corconne, take the direction of the Vignes Hautes" then the Chemin des Graves" and "Aiguebelle".

La Gravette

This is the name given to the wine-growing plain that stretches out at the foot of the village. Your path will get lost in this mosaic with a very specific character. With its deep soil made up of alluvial gravel and clay-limestone soil, La Gravette is ideal for growing vines. This soil and the very sunny climate produce quality wines, fine and rich in aromas. The vineyard is thus in AOP Pic Saint-Loup. Don't hesitate to visit the cooperative cellar: with its hundred or so winegrowers, all committed to respecting the environment, you will have the opportunity to taste the best vintages of the know-how of these vineyard craftsmen.

Continue towards the Ruisseau des Valadas, the Pont de Brouzet, the Champ du Roc and the Brestalou. Continue to "Calade" "Grande Rue" then "Vignes Hautes" until the Cave coopérative.
