This magnificent lodge at the gateway to Ngorongoro and Manyara National Park is set high above the lake. The vast swimming pool also benefits from this sumptuous view. There are 16 spacious rooms, each with a free-standing Victorian bathtub and a pleasant terrace. Dinners are fabulous, prepared with organic ingredients by a talented chef. Activities and nature walks are available from the lodge, which organizes safaris and has a new sister property in the heart of the Serengeti.

This small lodge with just 10 rooms is ideally located 15 minutes from Karatu in the heart of the wilderness. Each room in a heavy tent is luxuriously furnished with king-size beds and a pleasant safari style. We love the view of Lake Manyara and the Rift Valley, the refreshing little pool, the really reasonable prices and the good meals served here. It's part of Mawe Lodges, which has three camps (Mawe, central-eastern Serengeti), Baobab (between Tarangire and Lake Burunge), Ndutu and Mara River (to follow the migration).

This lodge is one of the best budget options in Moshi. Prices remain reasonable and the facilities are of the highest quality. The spacious bungalows are set in green grounds and have their own privacy and private terrace. The beds are comfortable, just lacking curtains for darkness. The swimming pool with water jets is the main attraction. The lounge is beautiful, with its Afro chic decor, but we regret that the restaurant is expensive. The Indian specialties are acceptable, while the other dishes are rather unremarkable.

The 21 tents (rebuilt in 2018) are camouflaged in the bush. They await visitors in search of wilderness and tranquility. They are simple, but pretty, all wooden, with surprisingly good bathrooms (hot water is limited). This lodge has a swimming pool, which is welcome after a safari, where the elephants sometimes come to drink, and which is a show in front of a crowd of fans at the restaurant, which serves excellent food.
