Both the interior and the outside terrace are pleasant spaces. The food is downright delicious, from pizzas, burgers and salads to sushi. The compositions are fresh and full of flavor. Also lattes, espressos, cakes, fresh juices... and wifi. Family-friendly, this café-restaurant features children's games, attracting many expatriates at tea time.
KARAMA LODGE CUISINE
Read moreIn a superb setting (with views of Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru), Karama Lodge's restaurant serves a very good fusion continental cuisine based on fresh local produce. Possibility to eat indoors or in the garden, the decoration is stylish, the high ceilings, the designer furniture, the omnipresent vegetation. On the menu, meat, fish, but also vegetarian dishes. The aubergines with walnuts and basil and balsamic reduction as a starter are divine. Also fajitas and various sandwiches.

Everything is grown on site, in the association's vegetable garden. Closed in the evening and at weekends.
THE BLUE HERON
Read moreThis restaurant now has a new setting outside the city. Everything is peaceful, conducive to the intimacy of a nice dinner. Banquettes around widely spaced tables shaded by artistic wooden canopies face a thick flowery garden, with the view of Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru in the background. The menu is gargantuan, with a choice of shawarmas and wood-fired pizzas, including a margherita for four that is a metre in diameter (!). A nice little souvenir shop completes the decor.
BRUBRU LODGE
Read moreThis is undoubtedly the best restaurant in Moshi, as much for its setting as for its dishes. The BruBru Lodge, recently opened in a new design, is also a popular restaurant with locals and expatriates alike, offering delicious food and a romantic candlelit ambience in the evenings. The setting is really cosy, both inside, on the terrace and in the garden, with your feet up on the lawn under the trees. The à la carte menu features refined, organic fusion dishes, with just a handful of regularly changing offerings.
KHAN’S BARBEQUE
Read moreMr Khan is a car parts merchant by day and a restaurateur by night! He takes over the sidewalk in front of his store to prepare chicken, tika and kebabs on a large street barbecue, accompanied by naan chapatis and French fries. The buffet is varied enough to keep you coming back for more. Very good. Arusha rushes in... Of course, you have to want to try local street food here, as tourists are very rare. Nevertheless, the dishes are very authentic and everything is very fresh. This address is an institution in Arusha.
MACHWEO FINE DINING
Read moreThe Onsea House hotel restaurant is nestled on a hillside with a breathtaking view over the hilly outskirts of Arusha. This gastronomic address, run by Axel Janssens, a friendly Flemish chef who has worked in several Michelin-starred restaurants in Belgium and France, offers French and African-inspired world cuisine every evening for a tasty cocktail unrivalled in the region. Magnificent view at sunset ("machweo" in Swahili). Axel has published a magnificent book on Tanzania(Taste of Tanzania).
CHINESE WHISPERS
Read moreThis is the Chinese restaurant in the very secure Njiro shopping mall, 3 km south-east of Arusha, which is regarded as one of the best restaurants in the city. The establishment is on the first floor of the complex, and spreads its tables in a modern and bright setting. No big surprise on the program but a hundred dishes to choose from and an ultra fast service, tasty, quality and ultra fresh dishes. Muffled atmosphere and minimalist decoration. You can actually hear thewhispers of your table neighbours.
INDOITALIANO RESTAURANT
Read moreA small culinary institution in Moshi for the past fifteen years. As its name suggests, the restaurant's menu features a rather baroque combination of Italian and Indian specialities! Forget your prejudices, the two are compatible, even the pizzas are delicious and prepared in the Italian tradition. Also pasta, smoothies, etc. Vegetarians are also catered for, with eggplant parmigiana and a variety of Indian specialties. Pleasant outdoor terrace and indoor dining room.
SPICES AND HERBS
Read moreThis good restaurant offers Ethiopian dishes à la carte, the country from which the owners come, with a lot of injera (the spongy Ethiopian cake that serves as bread), and berbere, the typical sweet pepper. The outdoor loggia is comfortably furnished with cushioned armchairs and pleasant lighting. You are advised to try some of the typical local dishes such as Tanzanian maize with spinach and lentils, which is delicious. There are also pizzas on the menu, but far from the Italian standard.
GEORGES TAVERN
Read moreDid you know that Greeks settled in Arusha in the inter-war years, in former German farms? Well, as surprising as it may seem, their heritage is still there! To the delight of those who love olive oil gastronomy, there are excellent moussakas, raw salads, Greek-style fish, a whole range of dishes, but also good pizzas. Everything is delicious and fresh. With small blue and white checkered tables, the setting is pleasant and enjoyable.
MILAN'S RESTAURANT
Read moreA surprising change of scenery in the journey. This very simple and affordable Indian restaurant serves only vegetarian dishes, as the owners are true Hindu Indians who live here. The food served is delicious and authentic, prepared with carefully selected spices and ingredients. You can enjoy a lot of specialties that you don't see much on the menu in France, because to be a vegetarian restaurant, you have to vary the flavors greatly. It is a really interesting option if you want to eat healthily. Friendly and fast service.
BLOSSOMS CAFE & WINE BAR
Read moreThis café-restaurant right in the center of Moshi is a really good address for coffee and lunch, especially at the back in a small, quiet garden with a covered terrace. Inside, the air-conditioning is cool and the wi-fi excellent, and many customers have their computers installed. We love a good espresso or cappuccino just as much as the grilled chicken dishes and the typically Tanzanian pilau rice is delicious, but there are also burgers and other more Western sandwiches on the à la carte menu.
FIVE CHUTNEYS
Read moreAn exclusively vegetarian Indian restaurant (run by real Hindu Indians) that's a welcome change from the usual resto-grills. Typical dishes, fresh, full of color and a variety of vegetables, all at a low price - a good deal. The originality of the specialties on offer is such that we're surprised, as we're not used to these truly typical Indian dishes. You can try the five delicious chutney sauces to spice up your dishes. There are also local pizzas and practical sandwiches to take along on day trips.
KITAMU COFFEE
Read moreThis is Arusha's new café-restaurant to try out, right in the center and open non-stop. On the menu are interesting Swahili specialties with a modern twist, such as the "sweet chill chicken salad", with grilled chicken, fresh mango, tomatoes, onion, lettuce, walnuts and a homemade sweet chilli sauce. You can also opt for cakes, milkshakes or a good Tanzanian coffee at any time. The place is really cute and warm, with wax banquettes and high stools, a wooden interior and a mezzanine with tables upstairs. Good wifi.
SAWASAWA VILLAGE GRILL & LOUNGE
Read moreDon't go looking for haute cuisine at this new restaurant, but we do come here for the very Tanzanian ambience of the place. At weekends, concerts are often held on the open-air terrace. During the day, the space is really nice. A la carte: grilled meats and a vegetarian menu. Fresh fruit juices are served at all hours. The plates are hearty, the atmosphere popular and the music quite loud. A good place to go out in the evening.
